IMHO, a blacklight is a waste of money and electricity, and simply isn't needed.
I'm now using this lamp (note the Hydrofarm brand name is pricey and you can find similar Daylight type CFLs at hardware stores and ebay for less $)

One lamp is covering 8 square feet and will cover 12 square feet if I use the whole 6 foot length of the rail. The lamp is mounted in the reflector with a standard lamp socket and lamp repair parts, and two 2" diameter 1/4" plywood discs. The center of the lamp's light output is positioned at the focus of the parabola.
