Not sure what you mean but here is some info on roots. Very high humidity will cause roots to pop out from everywhere along the stem. Once the plant is established in soil and the plant gets used to ambient humidity, any roots above the soil will just die and fall off without any harm. As long as there are healthy roots under the soil the plant will be just fine.

thx for the tip Jarg. Dark sahdow, the roots weren't coming out of the stem, they were pushing themselves inside the stem.

Yes, I have seen this, when my plant was a cutting an aerial root was growing into the stem but i just cut it off as it would have introduced germs into the plant if it pierced the stem.

Does anyone have a picture as an example they can post. I haven't seen this before and am very curious as to what it looks like. I want to have that picture in my mind so I can recognize the potential problem if it ever arises on my plants.

i can't supply a picture unfortunately but to try and help with picture, imagine the roots coming out of the bottom and then moving upwards and digging into the stem.
