My question is can you use a vaporizer to consume Salvia and experience it's effects.  First off I'm going to list a few facts.  In order to vaporize the chief chemical Salvinorin-A it has to be heated to 300 degrees celsius or 572 degrees fahrenheit.  Salvia smoke contains solid particles, liquid droplets, and gas.  The salvinorin is in the liquid part of the salvia smoke and if it comes in contact with tissue (ie. lungs) at 300 degrees celsius it will be burnt beyond repair.  I know if you use a pipe you will definately experience the effects, but smoking it is very unpleasent.  If you use a water pipe or bong it works great and has decent flavor (all using a torch lighter burning constantly).  So if you were to use a vaporizer, create a vapor at 300 degrees celsius, and run it through a bubbler to cool it down would you get any of the salvinorin-A? I feel like the droplets would cool down and stay in the water.  If you use a bong or bubbler you still get the effects EVEN THOUGH the smoke is at a relatively low temperature.  Is it because the salvinorin-A crystalized on the smoke particles and enters your lungs to be absorbed? I haven't tried vaporizing with a bubbler to cool it down, but I would like to know what people think would it work? And if you use a bong as the water temperature decreases does that decrease the amount of Salvinorin-A you receive?  Thanks for any info!

Yes it can be vaporized. However, the conventional Volcano vaporizers designed for MJ will not work. As they do not get hot enough. A hash oil pipe and a torch or fresh lighter on high could be a better choice, or even a home made foil version. One has done the foil thin before. It worked best with a 15 to 25X SD resin smeared onto the foil. The foil was then folded into a tube that was clamped together with an alligator clip(roach clip). The flame from the lighter was then put under the middle. The vapors coming out the end of the tube were then inhaled.

I vape 5mg doses of pure Salvinorin A all the time... It's the only way to do it IMO... If you have the scale.

When you vaporize the chemical, it will re-crystalize when cooled (just as water vapour will crystalize under it's evaporation point) into micro particles and droplets which will stick into your lungs... Does it change the potency of the dose at all? Nope... But it's cool to know, I guess.

Is it because the salvinorin-A crystalized on the smoke particles and enters your lungs to be absorbed?

Would you mind explaining this as I have never heard of this before, thanks?

 Joe

Okay, so we vaporize the Salvinorin-A when it is smoked or when using a vaporizer.  The Salvinorin-A vaporizes out of the plant material at 300 degrees celsius.  At this point it is a LIQUID that is riding the airflow of your inhale.  The melting point of Salvinorin A is 238 to 240°C, so when it drops below this temperature it turns from a liquid to a solid.  A generous estimate IMO is that after the smoke goes through water it comes out less than 100 degrees celsius.  When the Salvinorin-A comes out I would think it would be a solid.  So if the smoke is traveling through the water the salvinorin-A, now being a solid, has to stick/crystalize to the smoke particles in order to make it into your body.  That's my hypothesis.  I feel like the crystalized Salvinorin-A would be too heavy to travel to you.  If herd that you can't take slow drags or the Salvinorin-A will fall out due to the slow air flow.  And if that is the case if you tryed to cool the vapor from a vaporizer, because for this chemical it is too hot for your body to handle, would you receive any of the Salvinorin-A?

Mmm.. vaporized dosen't mean liquefied, it means the chemical turned to vapor, a gas. When you inhale salvia smoke you get vapor, not liquid droplets. And thats also my theory on stale smoke, the active chemicals have already begun to condense after a while(as the smoke goes stale), making it hard to inhale. Anyhoo, a bubbler on a vaporizer would be good, because you could take some of the (HVAC/Chem word of the day) latent heat out of the gas and make it less harmful to the lungs. However, if it cools too much, it could condense some and make the hits a bit more harsh. Perhaps you could use hot water in the bubbler, so it dosen't cool down as much and condense. Plus you would get a nice, steamy hit, like a fresh breath of a sauna....

My apologies if that post made no sense, I'm posting whilst tripping. Mmm...10x...
