Fear

So basically, the primary feeling I associate with smoking salvia is that of fear as I begin the trip. I initially feel like my mind kind of spins into the trip and at that point I always get worried about losing control of my ego and consciousness. I think its because those things are something we hold onto so tightly in daily life that the prospect of losing them can be terrifying.

Does anyone have a similar feeling towards it?

The first 30s of a salvia trip, for me, are generally marked with "Oh fuck, why did I do this, I keep forgetting how much I hate salvia"...

So, yes, I understand perfectly, and I find it quite disconcerting. I've had much more potent ego deaths on other psy's than Salvia, yet each of these drugs always embrace me with warmth during their come up... I've had a mushroom trip that literally made me cry for over an hour, and made me call in sick for work the next day, yet every trip afterwards was happy and glowing: I never second guessed myself...

Salvia, not so much.

I have also had this fear of losing control. I think this is part of the reason why Salvia is non-habit forming. I find it much more comfortable with a sitter no matter what. It gives me a sense of calm before I smoke that no matter what happens, I will come out of it, and I will be taken care of during the experience. I think it is very important to have a sitter you completely trust. Sometimes before I smoke I will tell myself that the trip will be enjoyable and to embrace whatever comes. I think of it as "praying to the Salvia gods" and that I am completely releasing myself to them. I don't know if it really makes any difference, but it definitely puts me in the right frame of mind before hand.

I have only had 1 not-so-pleasant experience with Salvia, and it was when I was trying to fight the experience. Since then I try to have the right frame of mind and become calm and relaxed before going in. So far Lady Salvia has treated me right since doing that.
