Hey....I was wondering about the different Salvia strains.  Do they all give an effect if smoked or what have you?

Yes, each strain of "Salvia Divinorum" contains Salvanorin A, which is the substance that causes the effect. Other species of Salvia, such as "Salvia Splendors" does not contain Salvanorin A. (I think I worded that correctly...)

All "Salvia Divinorum" plants have the Salvanorin A molecule. Notice the "Divinorum" as the second part of the name of the plant. Other Salvia plants like "Salvia Splendors" or "Salvia Nemorosa" don't look like "Salvia Divinorum" and don't contain any Salvanorin A. The different strains of "Salvia Divinorum" are all still the same species of plant (Salvia Divinorum), but have been given nicknames to specify an exact plant.

All Blosser strains of Salvia Divinorum are actually the same plant because every cutting in the world of Blosser was taken from the same mother plant. So the nickname "Blosser" just refers to a single mother plant and all of her cuttings. They all have the exact same DNA. To get a new strain you have to raise a new Salvia Divinorum plant from seed....which rarely works even when you can get seeds (which is hardly ever.)

There are only a handful of Salvia Divinorum strains in the world and each strain can be traced back to a single original Mother plant.

Here are the strains I know of...

Blosser
Cerro Quemado
Hofmann & Wasson
Luna
Julieta
La Fuerza
Owens
Paradox
Resilience
Moon Maiden
Aquarius
Phoenix

Anyone know of others?

There are many SPECIES of Salvia. Salvia Divinorum is a species of salvia (as is salvia officinalis, salvia dorrii etc.) and is the only SPECIES that is psychoactive*.

There are many "strains" of Salvia Divinorum. Strains are different than species, as all strains share enough of a resemblance among one another not to be deemed a different species. Strains often have very small phenotypic or morphological differences between one-another, but are all the same species.

All strains of Salvia Divinorum is active, but not all SPECIES of Salvia are active. You should read up on "binomial nomenclature", if you'd like to learn more about the system that we use to name the organisms of our planet.

* there is some evidence to suggest certain other salvia species have some sort of psychoactive effect as well.
