Yeah, as Mysty said you can't really absorb enough salvinorin A by drinking tea to feel any kind of significant effect. If you are looking for a longer duration experience, try either the quid method or using an alcohol tincture. You can read more about the various methods here:

Salvinorin A can only form an emulsion with water (Pure water - distilled, forming a better emulsion). Therefore, any salvinorin A deposited in the water will quickly sink to the bottom of the cup, and not making it in you.

Also, You can only absorb Salvinorin A with direct mucous membrane contact. You can't "Ingest" it as you could 9-THC or something like that... It has to be absorbed through the tongue/gums/nose/eyes (I really don't recommend the later two aha) to get directly in the bloodstream. Since our lungs are CONSTANTLY immersed in blood (blood that often makes it directly to the brain, rather than through the circulatory system first) smoking produces the best high.

If you're serious about making the effects take longer, you could create a tincture (hell, you could even flavour it nice with something crushed Anise... Mmm, absinthe!), use the quid method (ew) or create a "hash chew" out of extracted tars.

The best thing about the hash chew, is that you can extract waxes and tars from ANY plant, and deposit Salvinorin A on it, letting you flavour it.

The Mazatec do make a brew that is like an SD tea. However, from what I gather, it is taken more like an aqueous tincture. That is that it is allowed to sit in the mouth for a while before it is swallowed. That would allow for any colloid-ed Salvinorin A to settle out upon the mucus membranes of the mouth. Once there it can be absorbed.

In the past one has tried making such a tea from 3 to 9g of dried SD leaf. However, the results were inconsistent at best. Even when it did work, it was no stronger then a quid of ~2g of SD leaf. BTW, each sip of the black boiled down brew was allowed to sit in the mouth for about 5 minutes before swallowing.

One has, also, found that anise extract(tincture) did make for a nice base to dissolve some 20X SD resin in. The tincture was quite tasty too.

I believe I made this mistake once.  It was the most horrible taste I have encountered with salvia thus far.  I also held it in my mouth a while before swallowing.  And what did I get for my troubles?  Not so much as a serene state of mind.

I suppose it could be done.  But I would say as far as liquid goes, tinctures are best.  And if you don't need your lungs...smoke up! Wink

The tea does taste nasty. One would have to be able to handle bitter stuff.

I'm drinking it right now, and I love the taste. I've had much more bitter teas (tea made from fresh European Rowan leaf, for example). I think the minty taste comes through pretty well here.

I used about 3 dried and 2 fresh leaves for 2 cups, with a steeping time of about 10 minutes in boiling water.

I'm certainly not having any visions, but it calmed me like any nice infusion mint tea. It leaving room for it to be placebo, but there is no doubt that I'm feeling some sort of altered perception and mood. It's my most enjoyable salvia experience thus far (though I'm not typically doing it for enjoyment).

Note that I get farther than this on 1/3rd leaf when smoked, so depending on your sensitivity you may need a lot of tea leaf.

Maybe not the best place for this question, but aside from starting a new topic...
How would using the small amount of salvinorin crystal from an extraction as a quid/tincture under your lip work out? Plausible?

Works fine... Tastes horrid. Wink

You're best bet is plugging it, actually. A teaspoon of melted butter with 10 or so mg of salvinorin A in it... Place it in the fridge, mould to a comfortable shape, and... lol...
