Hello, I was wondering if it's ok if I smoke diviner's sage while on Accutane. In about a week I'll be starting it and I've researched the harsh physical and nuerological side effects. I know salvinorin-a may be light on the liver but I was wondering if anyone thinks any adversities may occur. I'm a bit of a hypochondriac and am scrupulous about doing any substance while on isotretinoin, yet I've been ordering salvia by gram practically every week and the usage has become a habitual. Sally is safe to use with anything right? I've used salvia with many substances and know it's most likely one of the safest possible compounds. I just want to verify because I know how very harsh tane is. I want to be sure I can continue without worry. Could anything negative result? Salvia when smoked is light internally right?

Wow, habitual salvia usage... never heard of that one.  I don't know anything about isotretinoin, but I would be very interested in what salvia does for you on a regular basis.  I have found that I have a very similar trip every time I use it now, and rather unpleasant.  I get feelings of impending mortality and I always get the feeling that my parents are linked to me psychically and they are very ashamed of me.  They say something like "Oh crap, he's smoking salvia again, time to purge him from the earth and try our luck again" but for some reason they haven't been able to build a version of me that refuses to smoke salvia.  I always end up smoking it again... anyway, so I almost never smoke it anymore.  It's very unpleasant for me to disappoint them and make them kill me every time.  But I did order a plant because I think it will come under attack from the government and no plant deserves that, and it needs to be as widely cultivated as possible as a safeguard.  Okay, sorry for putting my story in here...  but I would like to know what salvia does for you that is needed on a regular basis...

Salvia goatse'd me!  Warn your children!  It's actually a good reason to keep it legal, your friendly neighborhood drug pusher doesn't do age verification.

That's very interesting. Habitual is probably the wrong word but I usually sneak into my basement every night when my parentals are asleep and torch enough to induce a 20 minute experience of amnesia. It's very hard for me to explain. When I first started out I was very nervous before inhaling salvia and slowly felt nothing but fear before doing so. I would record my experience in the best most fluent way for the reader who hasn't felt salvia. But it seems, every time I begin to come up, no matter the dosage, I find it difficult to accurately describe what I really felt. Yet, while I'm coming up my mind is tricked into believing that I will recall what I am beginning to experience as I do. This has made me very determined to describe the resulted sensation into text as best I could. But it seems with constant usage I begin to feel a sort of euphoria rather than timidness due to familiarity of the sensation. And that is why I tend to use it recreationally. I no longer fear it as I once did and understand it enough to accept the confusion produced that pulls people into a panic. Now it's just an escape from my pragmatic stress. The after-glow alone relaxes me greatly, a feeling I look forward to. I hear that some people may pull their stress into the trip and amplify it. I never experience that at all, when my limbs are disconnected and my body no longer exists, I feel nothing but peace as I am pulled into objects and twisted around as an energy lost in a swirling reality.
The process of thought you experience seems frightening in my opinion. I have yet to ponder anything relevant to my family while using salvia, as far as I know atleast. Do you vividly perceive such an event? As odd as it may seem I have yet to recognize an organism structured entity like many people have (as far as I can recall =/ ). It's always a very distorted and unexplainable occurrence that can only be explained with identifiers of comparrison that don't accurately reflect what has actually occured.  I really hope the government won't act on salvia, there's so many critical issues to worry about rather than a psychedelic that has yet to hurt anyone.

I’m intrigued. I don’t think I’ve seen any academic report of habituation that weren’t completely anecdotal and only very few “trip reports” directly from users. And then there was the moron kid on Dr. Phil.

How has your dosage evolved over time? Are you seeking stronger experiences every time or are you satisfied with the same strength as when you started?

(Sorry for not addressing your original question; I really have no clue about the drug interactions of Accutane — I don’t think anyone knows whether it will interact with salvinorin or the other diterpenoids in Salvia divinorum. If you decide to go on with both drugs, please let us know of any unexpected effects.)

Unfortunately - we just *don't* know... But, I'm willing to be it won't do anything. Accutane's danger lies in it's teratogenic properties...

I would heavily not recomend it, sorry.  I took Accutane for a year and it can seriously fuck with your brain.  Accutane for many individuals invokes severe depression (it may not last for more than a few days).  This happened to me as well, and I seriously contemplated suicide, though I did not attempt anything.  You never know when that could kick in, and if it happens while tripping you could be in serious danger.  I was even skeptical about smoking mota while I was on it (but still did every once in a while with no troubles).  I would certainly not reccomend using salvia while on accutane.  (hope your acne gets better, worked wonders for me in the end  Grin)

I'm sorry but I too am going to totally fail to answer your question.  However, I am, like others here it seems, curious about the 'habitual' use you describe.

My experience, having only taken salvia three times so far, is that it seems to have taken over my mind in a way.  I know that is a hugely melodramatic statement and I apologise - it's not really that severe but I do find myself kind of obsessing about salvia and thinking about it and its affects pretty much constantly.  I put this down to my first experince being so profound and spiritual.

The constant focus on salvia does concern me somewhat since I have demonstrated a fairly addictive personality throughout my life.  I know salvia is supposed to be non-addictive, in a traditional sense, but I wonder if there are different types of addiction...?

You can be mentally addicted to virtually anything, but mental addictions come with no actual withdrawals (not to say you can't show your addiction or withdrawal in physical ways). Now I typically think of people with addictive personalities as someone who once they start something they become highly involved and intrigued but eventually lose interest. Is this you or do you keep your addiction throughout time? If it's the first than your fine. Enjoy it while you have it and eventually it'll lose its interest. If it's the second, just be careful and use salvia in moderation and don't mix it with anything so you don't allow salvia and something to get a sort of "cross addiction" where you crave salvia when maybe if you were to smoke it with tobacco it's the tobacco your really addicted to (just an example I could think of).
