Ok Ok Ok sure it is 45 minutes, but it isn't going to be a level 5 trip for 45 minutes! I am expecting at best to get into a level 3 for a short while. With more likely a result similar to what VampireElf just described.

Hmm... you say 20 fresh small leaves rolled into a ball all fit into one cheek? I hope I will have more leaves than that...I may have to do some trimming. I still have all the dried leaves from the last set of clones I took and may use those in the quid too.

The leaves were 'baby' leaves that I used that I gathered from 'cleaning up' a mother plant - really small.  I thought at the time it looked like a lot.  But it easily fit on one side of my mouth - definately could have used more.  The quid method takes some trial and error, at least for me cuz Im a rookie at it.  If I try again I'm going to literally stuff my mouth with big fresh leaves and wait.

Did you consider making a tinciture?  Increasing the potency by decreasing the volume might be an overall more effective method to obtain the effects.  I'm curious to know your results.  I've always wondered what is the perfect quid method?  It'd be cool to have salvia's effects gradually come on, reach a nice strong platue then gradually subside.  As opposed to the immediate and sudden effects from smoking.  Anyways let us know what you do. =)

At this point I am going to try it with plain regular fresh leaves (and maybe some of my other stored dried leaves that I could soak in sugar water). I don't know how to make a tincture (although I am sure there are directions on this forum somewhere) and actually am not 100% sure I even know what a tincture is. I really want to find a way to enjoy Salvia without modifying it.

In my experience ...

I'm a "Hardhead" and, for me, I need to chew up a stack of leaves as large as my hand (At least half a sandwich worth): As MUCH as I can physically chew to slurry without gagging! I stuff a huge cigar of leaves in: biting off slices as I go.

You may have to chew up a literal mouthful to get anywhere ...

I'll keep that in mind, but smoking Seibert's standardized "regular strength" (which I believe is 6x) can get me to a level 4 pretty easily so I believe I am a bit on the lightweight side. I am going to take my clones tonight so I may try this tonight. But if I wait until tomorrow, what is the best way to keep the leaves fresh for a day? I was thinking putting them in a ziplock in the fridge until tomorrow. I could also soak my dry leaves in sugar water at the same time until tomorrow when I am ready...

Care and Feeding of Quids:

Upon receiving them you should rinse each leaf off under warm running water and lightly brush with your fingertips to remove foreign material. Stack them with the petioles (stems) all pointing the same way.

Pick up the stack and shake as much water out of them as you can.

For short term storage (a few days): Place the stack on an uncovered plate in the vegetable crisper area at the bottom of your fridge - DO NOT FREEZE! Check for mold in the center of the stack: if they are dry enough when you put them in there they won't mold.

For long term Storage: Carefully devein the leaves of the petiole (The fat central stem of a leaf) and you'll wind up with a carefully stacked pile of (what I call) "Fillet of Salvia"
Spread out a large beach or bath towel and arrange the fillets, not touching each other, in a stripe laid up the middle half from nearly end to end. Then fold the outer 2 edge quarters of the towel Over the strip of leaves, in towards the center, where they meet. Finally: roll up the towel and into the vegetable crisper of the fridge they go! DO NOT FREEZE!

You may now use them for quidding or tea at any time.

After several weeks to a month they will be thoroughly dried out and can be removed from the towel. Store these "Mummified Leaves" in a jar in a DARK Place. Steep in warm sweetened water to reconstitute for quidding or tea. Crumble to smoke (Duh.).

OK Carl, I have stored the leaves rolled up in some paper towel and put them in the fridge for tomorrow. I hope I did it right...if not, they will just be a little dry is all.

What do you guys think? Do you think this will be enough leaves to make a worthwhile quid from? My scale is a shipping scale and isn't that accurate. The best I could get was I estimate these leaves weigh in at around 0.5oz. I hadn't washed them so there was no water to add any weight. It looks like a lot, but I am not sure. I also have the dried leaves from the last clones I took. I am hoping together it will be enough.
