They are still discovering new forms of THC, so the facts aren't really in yet. i think there is like 20 so far? more than 12 for sure.
It might be that a variety of lights would be best if one was looking to diversify the chem content through lighting? but then hitting the same button/wavelength over and over sure worked good in that 660nm grow. I have seen in studies where it looked like brix content and yield could be linked to mulch color (sugar is the precursor to THC) for mainstream crops like melons and cukes (green was best and then red) .
Still inexact science somewhat I guess but it is very well documented that THC can break down into other forms that act differently on us than the THC does. Like leaving a plant to grow for an extra long time can make it "couchlock"; the THC changes to CBN/CBD or such, there are a couple of the 'lower' compounds it can break down into. Those chems have more of a body stone than the "cerebral" high. Aged herb can get those chems from it's THC morphing too. Plants grown at the "optimal" temperature of 78F may not actually be making more THC, like some think, they may just be escaping a breakdown of what they have.
Not only can mj have it's trichs go couchlock (or over-ripen, depending on the perspective), but it can have under-ripe trichs. Like if a plant is harvested early, it's psychoactive properties will not have the strength/full range of effects. The leaves of a male mj plant will max their THC content right when it starts to flower. the buds from a female plant won't ripen for 6 - 14 weeks after that point.
Plants might make better chems by stimulating/simulating the conditions that originally were responsible for the creation or evolution of that chem. Like lots of plants use their alkaloids to repel bugs. Mj is said to get more dank, both stonier and more resinous, if it has chitlin applied. Chitlin is found in the exoskeletons of bugs. it is mined for a fert from ancient undersea skeletal deposits of mini organisms (product name "Chi").
UV-B light is said to affect genetics. like if it is put on a plant, then that plant's seeds will be different.

Funny, I saw suicidal mosquitos just dying on the surface of a sally leaf, she might be getting some human blood too from time to time

Thats interesting stuff Cakes, makes a lot of sense. Now I'm remembering some of the stuff I used to read on Overgrow about how the effects change depending on how you grow it and when you harvest.

Hmmm, really...you saw a mosquito die when it landed on a Salvia leaf? I wonder if a chemical on the leaf killed it...what do you think?

Dunno
I saw it sit there and then it started bangging its head repeatedly on the leaf surface. Kind of freaked me out.like it was seeing a long lost threat to mosquito land or something. Cooky... Could almost hear it praying and urging the god's... Or maybe it just found a nice spot to run ou of gass.Hehehe! (-;

Wow, that almost sounds like it got a heavy dose of salvinorin A, lol...that would be sweet to get a picture or video of that somehow. It seems like we might be on to something as far as the potential purpose of salvinorin A. If it has that kind of an effect on insects it could be for defense against small insects. However, its strange that the salvinorin A only occurs on the undersides of the leaves. Perhaps when insects such the juices out out plants they reach the salvinorin A...maybe that mosquito thought he landed on something with blood, heheheh.

I think it is the salvia being some sort of gateway into other worlds, particulaly insect and blood microbial worlds that has been playing with my mind. Something about mosquitos that is a bit against the idea of humans venturing there. Don't be surprised if sally gives you dreems of meeting strange beings. They look humanoid but when they start doing stuff like walking on their toes and fingers, suspect some multi dimentional overlap. LOL!!!
Might have been waiting for a male. They live off plant juices.

If you try hard enough, you can make anything happen. Now the question is, did that really just happen or has the extreme effort and stress finally pushed you over the edge into a delusional state. Either way, you can still do anything you want.

So is it best to have HPS or MH? My many years in horticulture classes and experiences have tought me it would be best to use MH, becuase we're growing for vegetation, but I could go either way.

Heres another Question is it better to have a nice high K and sacrifice lumen or vica versa?
Right now I am stuck with Fluorescents but later I will look for MH.

Both male and female Mosquitoes are plant juice drinkers by design. But you never see Salvia plants scratch a mosquito bite ... or hear them complain ...
And mosquitoes never bite and tell. How much sap can one bug drink? You'll never miss it.
Female mosquitoes only need a blood meal after they've mated: to have the proper Amino acid mix to produce Mosquito eggs.
If they never screw: they won't bite you.
But all the promiscuous mosquitoes tend to pick on me.

So bottom line, for maximum plant and leaf growth, what type of bulb is your best bet?

Really depends on how many plants you have and if you want to flower them eventually or not, but if you want to flower i would get a HPS and for extreme vegetative growth I would get a Metal Halide or fluorescent with a high k bulb (say 14000k) ,you could purchase other colour/k bulbs. For example I have an 130w 14000k fluorescent lamp which is good for vegetative growth however I could take the 14000k bulb out and put a 6400k bulb in for multi purpose growth (flowering and vegetative).
-Fluorescent/Metal Halide are good for vegetative growth (but it does depend what bulb you have in there)
-High Pressure Sodium is good for flowering and leggy growth (Longer distance between nodes)
