Oh god, I found a really depressing news story:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/09/25/earlyshow/contributors/tracysmith/main3295276.shtml
(Watch the video)

The last statement was so terrible, saying there were studies on rats that found it to cause depression. Ridiculous, I'm sure they schemed that one from the paper called "Depressive-Like Effects of salvinorin A", which has nothing to do with actual clinical depression. Its a property of many pharmaceutical chemicals that are in many cases used to treat depression. I think this went on national TV too  Cry The good thing is no one wants to ban it due to medical potential. Even that guy interviewed from the DEA said a ban would be undesirable.

OMG...that last bit about depression.....I can't even describe how angry I am.

Not only that, but Brain Roth...they make him sound like he wants to schedule salvia....he's one of the leading researchers for its medical studies.

And one of the things that tick me off the most...why do they always go  "undercover." Why don't they just go in with their cameras and buy salvia, it would be just as easy. So stupid...so so stupid. One suicide....and I even think the story is twisted...that kid didn't look any different before salvia use....he looks like the typical stoners that I see here in Cali every day.

Gah...and Addiction is a very good journal...and their best quote was some random crap you could find out of anywhere. Horrible.

I just wish there was something more we all could do.

Sounds good my friend Smiley

Yeah I heard about it in that same group (I think I'm subscribed).

I doubt it'll go through, unless they feel like making up shit about salvia (which they easily can). Like half of the 8 criteria are about abuse which salvia so far has no evidence of habit-forming activity. Maybe this report will be good, at least they'll convince themselves and the public that salvia is harmless (except from the average idiot....like that guy who drove over a bridge and smoked salvia).

That 'Group' would be THE SALVIA DIVINORUM OBSERVER and I recommend you subscribe to it if you aren't already.

Look at this article in the New York times. It's a good article, remarkably unbiased. However, it brings up a potentially detrimental account of a man in New York who accidentally shot himself in the head 10 minutes after taking Salvia.  Huh

Very nice article! There were some very good points that I may use if I get to speak at the public hearing. It's certainly one of the best articles I have read from an unbiased point of view.

The article was balanced, anyway.
