I think it is actually something of a mystery. I've noticed lately that some single posters have a Genius+ rating and the single post is not particularly enlightening.

I know this is an old post, but I wanted to point out what I have noticed. The number of stars is directly related to the number of posts by you. For instance I have noticed the following range of posts by people and noted how many stars they have:

1-49 posts = 1 star
50-199 posts = 2 stars
200-499 posts = 3 stars
500-??? = 4 stars
>822 = 5 stars     (threshold is probably 700 or 800?)

Anyway I thought this post was appropriate for my 100th post  Paradoxic, if you read this, did you have to set the thresholds on the star system when you installed SMF?
