Hey, I saw that one of my posts had been edited and I'm curious where I can find a guidelines page so I can save the trouble of anyone having to modify or delete my posts.  Thanks. Smiley

I think that was me who edited your post. I just made it look a little prettier, I moved the image down a line because it had caused some text you wrote to bump down to the bottom of the image. No biggie, but thanks for asking about rules. I never really had any reason to write up forum rules, you guys are all just so good  Cheesy  Heheh. But yeah, until I have a good reason to I'll leave the ethics up to ya'll.

Thanks Paradoxic, you're a great forum owner.  Smiley  There's one forum I used to go to where they suddenly started changing all the rules, deleting really popular sections, and banning people who complained about it. Sad  I hope that never happens here, it really created a big rift and I check in from time to time but it's just not that enjoyable anymore.

Yup it can be tricky to maintain individual freedoms, while also maintaining the online communities positive/friendly atmosphere. I know this from experience. Its all about balance. Usually these sorts of issues arise more frequently in communities of, um, stupid people, sounds kind of elitist, but its true Smiley But of course it can happen in any community, especially those that undergo very rapid expansion in numbers... where the "community vibe" can't keep up, and you effectively end up with 80% of the members being random strangers who don't feel much connection to, or understanding of, any of the others....  I think gradual steady growth is more reliable, as it builds more friendships and respect amongst the members, and so can absorb/repel aggressive/negative newcomers. Which then avoids the need for any power trips on the part of the admins etc. Just my thoughts on the matter of course Smiley

Thats a good point, its definitely all about balance. You gotta keep it a community atmosphere where everyone enjoys eachothers company thoughts. I think it really helps to have a very focused area because everyone who joins will have especially similar interests. Getting too large too fast could be detrimental. Its easy to forget that because at times I feel like I really wanna try to expand rapidly but its probably better to keep the growth rate slow, but also steady.

I think that you've got an advantage however, as the subject matter is very focused - and focused on such a topic that promotes positive attitudes to each other. The sorts of people who want to learn and interact with others with the same sets of interests in free thought and psychedelics are likely to largely be intelligent and open minded - and certainly not be ego-driven blockheads - this is a good thing Smiley
