Herb gardens... plant sudjestions
«

So along with my SD plants, I have a few herbs growing which are Thyme, S.Officinalis, and Anyse. I want in this comming summer to expand my collection by quite a few plants. Which my wishlist includes Rosemary, Garlic, Mugwort, St. John's Wort, and Peppermint, Cat-Nip and mabey Comfrey (but i hear thats hard to grow in pots as it has a long tap-root)
Appart from the garlic and rosemary The desired herbs are mainly desired for the same reason i originaly growing SD, to eventualy harvest and benefit from the itty-bitty-bitts of the plants. I also wanna get some of that lions tail, or something (the dream inducing one)
So anyways to my point. Does anyone have any advice on some plants to grow that may also have bennefitial attributes? They also dont nessesarily need to be like that, if they taste/smell good thats cool too

Don't know if you'd be into this sort of thing, but you could try growing a plant containing dimethyltryptamine.
Here's a list of some plants containing it:

I'm not sure which would be easiest to grow though.

Basil is a delicious aromatic herb - useful for salads and cooking, hot or cold meals... very easy to grow as well.

Well, that's the good thing about salvia dorrii, it's an anti inflammatory... As is echinecae (hard to grow indoors), ginger (flower), licorish (root), tumeric, and witch hazel (not for internal use) and chamomile, to name a few

I have many herbs in my garden too. Next spring I'll be looking for S. dorrii plants, as well. I live in the desert, so they should grow well were I'm at. Catnip grows well many places, but can become invasive. Last season the catnip and yarrow crowded out my S. nemorosa. I planted several new sages last year too. It will be interesting to see which of them will grow back as perennials next year. I grow basil in my garden, too. However, it does have to be replanted every year, for it is an annual.

Thanks for the Link Darty! [Genius +] for that.
I'd heard that reed canary grass was easy to grow in San Diego. I'll sow my surplus seeds in the San Diego River and Have an abundant year round harvest ...

So do you suppose you could make an effective topical mixture with these for reducing muscle soreness, etc?
I have a few more suggestions of psychoactive plants to grow...legal of course:
Kratom, Khat, Kanna, Calamus, Calea Zacatechichi, Syrian Rue

so heres an update i ordered a buncha seeds from horizonherbs.com
the list includes
foxglove(home procured seeds) currently sprouting
Catnip (nepeta cataria) also sprouting
St. John's Wort -- sprouting
Peppermint -- also sprouting
once these move out of my hyperbolic seed chamber i will be replacing them with
motherwort
yarrow
marshmallow
and lemonbalm
im going to post a grow log in a bit when you can see what all the seeds are doing. they are all going to be contained in pots so hopefully not too much of a problem with them spreading, not to mention planned harvesting. ect.

Oh also Tageta Lucida (Mexican Marigold)... its legal, meant to have some *mild* relaxation effects as a tea I think, but also smells really nice! Sort of sweet lemony tang to the taste too. I think its used in cooking etc as a herb.
Its only just started, but those are first impressions. One bad thing though.... its leaf shape is VERY like a certain MJ.... thin and serrated.... from a distance at least, as its not actually the same number of leaf fingers (or whatever they're called!)
But I suspect it could make someone (eg a nosy neighbour etc) get the wrong idea if seen in passing... and no one wants the wrong sort of attention after all, whether or not everything in the garden is legal.
