My psychoactive quest...

Ever since my first foray into psychoactive substances I was hooked. Realizing that you can change your consciousness with a simple plant is awe inspiring. The ability to really go somewhere in your mind just made me hungry for more. It's not about "just getting high" as some people explain it, it's different. Those who have been where I have in their own minds will know what I am talking about. I have to admit, I really feel like a modern-day shaman. I have guided many friends through vision-quests and mind journeys allowing them to finally figure out the answer they were looking for in their lives. I myself only use natural substances from rare plants to achieve these effects,  I find drugs like crack, methamphetamine, pcp and heroin to be evil and useless. I do not condone the use of these aforementioned substances and do not associate myself with people who use them. I promote natural healing and vision quests through using herbs and plants that have been used by cultures around the world for centuries. I am always interested in new psychoactive plants and continue to study and use these ethnogens responsibly. If I had the money, I would travel the world acquiring rare plants and participate in the rituals and uses of them. I hope that some of you around here understand where I am coming from and share my enthusiasm for rare plants. If any of you have anything you would like to add to this thread, please feel free to do so. Experiences, articles, information or personal knowledge of these plants is welcomed.

I'm exactly the same way.

I've collected over a 100 page MS word document with my ramblings on various plants, substances, experience reports, history, chemical facts and extraction guides. I've got stuff for many plants and animals (From Salvia, to M. Hostilis, to HBWR, to the Bufo toads, and even the ergot family of fungi). I've also got loads of plants for pharmaceutical uses... Ephedra, Pseudophedra the S. Dorrii plant for colds, Uses for Tobacco, etc.

I think Shamanism is incredible and fascinating, and I do my best to share it with many people.

Awesome, this is certainly a website that embraces the interest you speak of. I too share your feelings. I've always wanted to go meet a shaman and really get some exposure to cultures that have been doing this for ages. I have also been doing some research with Salvia and I plan to pursue similar research with other useful and unique plants. I have had ideas for ways I might be able to bridge science and the medicinal uses of these sacred plants.
