I've been very sick lately ....

Running a 100˚ plus fever - not getting out of bed ...

I saw the Dr. Yesterday ... he put the stethoscope on my back and said "Breathe Deeply" and then my lungs rattled badly!

Bad Bronchitis - almost Pneumonia! Oh, no wonder I feel so NASTY ... YUCK!

I'm on Zithromax Antibiotics and Albuterol inhalers and bed rest ... I'll be back someday ... You guys take care ....

I need to heal my body up to be of use to anyone! But you guys are in my thoughts!

Namaste, Carl

That's sad to hear.  Do you have a clue how it got started?

My fault for forgetting to wash my hands after the show each day ...

That'll get you every time ...

Well, I survived bronchitis ...

But personal business is going to be keeping me away from my forum duties for a couple of months ...

I'll be scarce for a while but I will be thinking about you guys often. I've got a LOT more to contribute so keep my chair warm for me, OK?

Carry on - you're fighting the good fight already!

About 20 - 25 days ago I stumbled in the dark, into something very sharp and very dirty, and hacked a large chunk out of my lower left leg: surgery is this afternoon at 1 PM. (Yeah, I had to have a Tetanus shot. I need MANY stitches and have received none.) I'm 'on crawlabout' for a while.

I've been hurting a lot!

My Specialist saw me at 10 days AFTER I got hurt and she said I hadn't received proper wound care from the previous 3 Doctors up til then.

The grisly wound photos are at (not for the Squeamish):

Right after I stopped spurting blood:

3 days later at the Hospital:

a week ago:

(That's Debriding Cream and not Pus ... Juicy, isn't it?)

Mega Gash sewing up session today! I have to stay in bed a week! Hopefully I'll be back on my feet soon ...

But I'm on "Walkabout" errrr ... "Crawlabout" for the rest of this Month as I recover from surgery.

Love,

I'm back!

Exactly one year ago today I joined this nice forum. There have been lots of wonderful changes since then!

I certainly have had an interesting year! Many people asked me what happened to my leg so I thought I would post that story here.

On May 17th, after dark, I entered through my back gate ....

It was a narrow, dark, path.

Towards the end of the path I stub my toe: my left knee ricochets off of my right leg just behind the knee.

And I fell over sideways into this:

I felt some pressure, and then the wetness: Suddenly there was blood everywhere! That front gear with no chain on it was just like a little buzz saw, or sharks teeth. I don't have a car so I couldn't get to the emergency room that night.

The grisly wound photos are not for the Squeamish!

Right after I stopped spurting blood:
http://seamac.info/cupboard/darkroom/phoenix/20080517hurt.jpg
I staunch the flow and covered it up and I took the next bus in the morning to the emergency room. One stupid doctor there said " How many days ago did you do this?"  And they did nothing for me except to tell me to keep it dry for two days and then return.

3 days later at the Hospital:
http://seamac.info/cupboard/darkroom/phoenix/20080520hurt.jpg
And it looked a lot worse and they still didn't prescribe any antibiotics: just told me to follow it up with my regular doctor in a couple of days.

I saw a doctor at a clinic three days later and they finally prescribe antibiotics for cellulitis. 10 days after I got the wound I went to see my regular podiatrist for my regular foot care appointment.  She took one look at that wound and said it had not been cared for properly. I began visiting her on a weekly basis: it was she who eventually suggested surgery. This doctor is the area expert on lower extremity wounds: when Kaiser Permanente needs to have a patient referred to a foot specialist they referred them to her.

a month ago:
http://seamac.info/cupboard/darkroom/phoenix/20080604hurt.jpg
(That's Debriding Cream and not Pus ... Juicy, isn't it?)

Finally, on June 11, almost a month after the wound, I got to the operating table. They used IV sedation which knocked me out right away: they injected something into my IV line in my left arm and I felt coldness spreading up my arm. When the coldness got to my neck: I woke up in the recovery room with my leg wound wound up like a mummy. There were no side effects to the sedation I was up and about right away.

The doctor did a really good job of stitching up that wide open gash:

I wasn't allowed to take a shower: it was record high heat! Over a week later I had some of the stitches taken out:

Finally, several days after that, the last of the stitches were removed.

But it still looks like this:

Yes, that hurts as much as it looks like it hurts. I have got to keep my foot elevated and go easy on it for awhile. So, now you know where I've been for last couple months. I've barely been able to take care of the garden!

Oh, I see I have a lot of personal messages I haven't answered. Well, I guess I'll be around a little bit now.

(edit)
What are you going to be doing with all that horsepower? The combined power on my PC Desktop weighs in at around 58Gflops, with a Q6600 quad core @ 3.6ghz... And I have trouble maxing THAT out...
Heh-heh-heh ...

I Restarted My 2 BOINC Projects and have put almost 1,000,000 BOINC Credits on my System since Feb. 19th 2008.
(300,000 SETI @ Home and 700,000 Einstein at Home.)

According to BOINCstats it will take me about 88 days to do the second million credits! What incredible Horsepower! I think I'm in the top 1,000 (In the World) by BOINC RAC!

Damn Sea Mac, thats pretty intense. I guess thats a downside to not having a car...I just use a bike for transportation as well. Damn I just realized the bike screwed you in two ways, lol.

I just had some of that twilight amnesia for getting some teeth pulled. Its pretty sweet, makes the process very painless.

Glad to see that it seems to have now been responsibly addressed by a doctor.
