Other Details/Images:

Hi all, Shovel here again, Now you might be wondering "Why on earth is he starting another Grow log?!?" and my answer to that is I have new Plants! Seamac, after numerous problems on my part, was kind enough to send me a few of his little babies, three to be exact! healthy and hardy plants they are, perking up after just hours of being contained in cardboard. Sadly I didnt take any pictures of them In the packaging or you would see the crazy amount of care he puts into shipping them. They were all Well rooted like promised aswell as the plants he had shown me (sent a snapshot of them right before packing). Well worth it! without a doubt. Here is a picture of them fresh out of the box :

Momma-cat is in the far right peeking in.

I Let them warm up under my grow lights for a bit, about 45 minutes they were a bit chilly from transport, (it is november after all!) and then replanted them into a good sized pot, pretty much the same size pot as momma but different colors, Broken clay pot peices line the bottom for drainage aswell as an almost 50-50 mix with vermiculite.

from the left: YD007 aka Kristina, in the back wilty is Aa004, aka Kaya(mercy), next Yd010 aka arachanpheal (a charachter from a story of mine, meaning vengence and riteousness)

In this picture I know they look a little bad, but what can you expect after being in the mail system for the night (seamac shipped them overnight crazy fast but worth it), after a few hours they perked up and started to show signs of life, the next pictures are this mornign (one day after repot)

YD007 Kristina: leaves perked up greatly just a little pale but otherwise doing well.

Yd010 Arachan: doing very well dropped one of its bug bitten leaves but otherwise very perky and happy. He is going to be the protector of the group. Very strong I think.

Aa004 Kaya: Shes taking the longest to recover from shipping, i think she will do find, just needs a little time and tlc. the top most leaves are the ones that are wilty, pictured here:

but shes got a little set of leaves right near the base that are perked up fine just like the rest here:

so Im not too worried about her if she starts to look like shes dropping that top stack im gunna snipp it off and let her bottom leaves take a new stem.

Ill post more tomorro
happy growing!

Those plants look good. Sea Mac didn't tell you what strains he sent you? If you have some of the more rare strains you'd be good to start trading in the Genetic Exchange Program we will be starting soon.

they are off of his original plant he's had, and all he got with it was something to say it was SD, diviners sage, it looks a little different than my original plant (spikes on edges are more sharp in Seamac's)  but i dont even know which one mine was. im sure if i looked... anyways he says his fresh strains from seeds, arent quite big enough for cuttings yet, but i sure hope to get on the list when they do come available Wink

plants still doing fine after first light cycle. putting them through a half powered cycle now, 2.5 hours of full light, 2.5 hours half light (no longer contained and lights farther away.

Thank you Brother!

My heart leaped for Joy and I shouted aloud "Yes"! when I saw the pictures of Kristina and Arachanpheal this morning: they looked like that 4 mornings ago when I shipped them - except now they have ample room for their roots to spread out!

They will thank you by shooting up! The more light the better ... With ample light levels they will measurably grow each week!

Happy Gardening!

Yes and more good news, Kaya has picked uptwo of her top leaves and they are regained turgor preasure, the other top leaves look like they are slowly comming back aswell, she's also sent out a new set of leaves from the bottom set near her stem,  aswell kristina is very well perked up but is trying to decide where to grow, arachanphael is however blossoming and all branches are putting out new growth

For a Second there I misunderstood you.

I thought you meant that arachanphael had started to BLOOM.

There *might* have been the beginnings of a rachis on one of them but It'll take all winter to get the raceme to the point of producing FLOWERS ...

Be aware that plants that get a natural photo-period will be starting to form Racemes at this time of year (In the Northern Hemisphere that is).

And so the TOTAL loss in transit, ultimately, was ONE bug-eaten LEAF that fell off during the bumpy ride?!?

They looked well crumpled when they arrived but sprang back within a week - no humidity tent required!

MAN, That is Incredible ... except it really happened ...

Thank you for the high level of feedback on the effectiveness of my packing/shipping procedure! I came up with what I have after MUCH Consideration on how best to prevent damage in shipping ... I mulled it over long and hard and it's evolved to a 'fine ART of shipping' over at least a year of trial and error.

I'm glad to know that they have at least a fighting chance after they are unpacked ... I •think• I've got it right!

May the Lord and Lady Bless your Sacred Garden! Your plants will reward your love / care / and respect with EXTREME Growth!

Namaste!  Carl

yeah actualy, i hadnt even thought of that, there was one other leaf that had fallen off right at the begining, but it was of the same, swiss cheese variety. thinking back my first plnt lost about half her leaves right outa the box, whereas these guys have only lost ones that they would be discarding anyways. they are all doing great still, after they dry out thier soil this time im gunna give them a weak miracle grow mix and i think they will love it!

That raises a couple of Questions ....

How was your original plant packed?  How large was it's pot? Did they dump it in a box and pour packing peanuts over it? Was it's root ball wrapped? Or was it just a rooted cutting? How long have you had YOUR "momma cat"?

And I'd like to know if his name is pronounced like "A-Rack-en-fail"? I'd at least like to pronounce his name right ...

yeah how arch said it, its like an extra little sylable at the end like instead of fail, its fa-eil like a small hickkup.

My original plant was packed, hrmm lemme try to remember, it was a well rooted cutting, as far as i could tell at the time, started with a double stem (looked like a divining rod) It was basicaly a square 4inch-ish pot, a with something like mabey cardboard peices or somehting to keep it from crushing its self, i honestly cant remember much about it. dont get me wrong the packing itself was fine but not quite as careful as yours seamac, I got my plant from http://www.sagewisdom.org/ Daniel Seibert's site so I think the dropping of my mother plant's leaves more had to do with the 3-4 days in shipping it experienced, aswell as drastic acclimation changes it had to make, no humidity tent or anything at the outset as well as immediately rep potting.

You'll be happy to know seamac, Kaya the plant that was drooping so much at the begining has picked up all of her leaves and is facing the light.

Kristina also has new growth comming out of a dirt shoot(its this tiny little branch of small, battered leaves but I definitely see a new set poking out.

nothing new with arach, other than doing splendid, all stems have new growth, just getting bigger.its so fun to watch these little buggers go!

WELL... i guess it is time for a pic update ehh?
Apart from my  fungus gnat problem everyone is doing fine enough(clemence has developed some black spots on her leaves but Im making a pest topic or adding to my fly one for help.

First up is Arachanphael, or archie as ive come to call him.
hes doing great, alot of new growth getting bigger ect. the protector of the group he is, very strong indeed. wasting no time to get set

next up is kristina, shes the one with the fungus gnats as of now. she, like her namesake has some life problems to sort out right now, but it will all be taken care of in due time.

this is what gives me hope in her namesake, aswell as makes me smile. this cute little leaf set thats pretty much all the new growth she has gotten over the past little while(she has a newset at the top but its very slow.)

last but not least is kaya:
doing very well her top has perked up one hundred fold. here:

that little shoot at the bottom has grown conciderably.

a note about it, i have all the plants grouped together, due to their curved stems they kinda fit together like a jig=saw. seen here:

what you cant see in the picture, that kaya herself is covering is that little sprout, and when the lights are on, the group of plants somewhat shade that little sprout, just a little note on overall growth (the sprout has grown more than any of the other plants) and it is shaded, Im half concidering reducing the overall light output, or at least pulling the lights farther away. but that will be in a month or so anyways.

Seamac: I dont know if the color change is all to visible due to my cruddy camera, but you can see a big difference in this picture, the circled 2toned leaf, the lighter is what generally the plant used to be colored and the darker being the overall color of the plants now :

So! there they are ten days later all doing amazing!

heres another update 11.28.07
the little sprout on kristina has gotten her second node

and the sprout on kaya is getting bigger and stronger, I pinched the main stem's top leaves to hopefully let her focus on growing the sprout and leaves ect. I think its worked so far.

heres an overhead shot of all the new growth on clemence my mother plant.

arachnaphael is doing great aswell, hes got more leaves in the first place, and all three of his stems are shooting out. one new node on each.
