Wow, it's been quite awhile since my last update!

My enthusiasm for growing Salvia has declined slowly... Trying to make a business out of something really takes away from the pleasure once found in it Smiley... Coupled with the fact that I'm moving countries in about 4 months, and can't bring any of my plants with me... Well, that's just depressing.

Nontheless, my operation is going strong, and I've still got lots of plants sitting around. I'm Starting to liquidate my stock, in preparation for the big move.

Tonight I say goodbye to two of my favorite plants. I got a great offer for them, and had no choice but to accept what I was paid Smiley. The new owner is a really nice person, filled with compassion, so I know they'll be in good hands.

They will be leaving my place tomorrow, so tonight I replaced their soil, gave them a good watering, and let them rest in the dark after a week of strong nitrification (a solution of almost 10% nitrogen was given to them, to make them incredibly green before sale).

So, now I'm left with 5 clones, 3 parent plants (that are also in the works for sale) and about 5 cuttings rooting. Hopefully I can sell the parent plants in the coming months, and pot the other plants individually to give to my friends, and to ship them to you guys during the spring.

If anyone is interested in having one of my strains, please post here. I can't guarantee them to everyone, obviously, and I'm sorry but I will be a bit prejudiced on who gets them... I'm trying to keep their genetic line as strong as possible, so I do need to make judgements on who I can trust the most. Buyer only pays shipping, which should be about 25$ for a rooted, potted, and well protected clone (6-8" tall) depending on your location. Smiley

Yeah, you do. Don't worry Cheesy.

I'm reserving one for Paradoxic, and one for Seamac, and one for you now Smiley

You can really see her characteristic slender/asymmetric leaves there...

I'd love one.  You said it is seed-raised, right? Wow that would be really great!  So have you spent much time in Ohio yet?  Good luck with the move, I hope everything goes really smoothly.

How tough are the agricultural controls going across the border?  My dad and I drove from uhhh Windsor I think? across the QE highway to Toronto. Great trip!  I remember the Canadian customs officers were interested in whether we had extra gasoline in our van... I don't know if they would have charged us a tax, or made us leave it behind, or just sign a form documenting it, but I thought it was funny to be searched for gas cans.  BTW, Tim Hortons is the BEST FAST FOOD in North America hands down. Mmmmm yummy.

Yes, these are clones taken from a seed raised plant. I had 3 of my seedlings actually survive (from quite a big lot... Sad) one died shortly after it got its third set of leaves for an unknown reason, and the other one I left at my parent's house (They have no idea what it is haha!).

The Aurora strain seems to attract more insects (whiteflies  Angry) yet be more resilient to cold and lower humidity...

However, getting a houseplant across the boarder is really, really hard. I already looked into it, and you need a certificate of phytosanitization... Which requires you to send a plant to a government office for testing, at your expense, without getting it back. Some people bring houseplants across the boarder from time to time, and don't get caught, but considering I'll be going back and forth about 6 times a year, I know I won't be that lucky.

I'll put you down as receiver #4 Smiley

Grin  That's a mixed bag about the phytosanitation certificate. Sad  I can absolutely understand the need in a way, although ultimately it can't prevent the spread of diseases and pests, only mitigate it to a degree.

Your parents don't know what that pretty plant is, lol.  I have promised a cutting to my grandma once Sally's strong enough to give me cuttings and I get the rooting tek down.  I'm sure it's easier than another famous terpenoid-producing plant right? (Pot Marjoram  Wink )

I did tell her that the native people of Mexico chew large amounts of leaves to cure headaches and they believe chewing it can help them find lost items.  I told her that it has a bitter taste which most Americans find highly unpleasant, so it's not really useful to us for anything but foliage.  Hehehe.
