10.26.08 Dubbed the Fantastic Four!(Group photo coming soon)

Hi I decided to make a grow log so everyone can observe and hopefully contribute to the success of my plants.

About Me:
- Teen Tongue
- Asian (the first on this forum?)
- Drug Free. Thats right I have never done anything besides get tipsy.
- No experience in growing anything but sunflowers Cheesy

Strain: Bosser strain from salvia source
Lighting: 1 Daytime light bulb bought with the 5 finger discount from walmart Tongue Will be reciving about 14 hours of light everyday since the plant is in my bed room. so whenever i sleep the plant will not get light.
Grow Media/Soil Mix: I got 2 unrooted cuttings but it started getting black in some parts so i decided to cut it into 4 cuttings.
2 plants with reversed osmosis water. 2 plants in miraclegro potting mix
Temperature Range: Indoor temp is about 75F most of the time.
Humidity: Indoor. With a homemade humidty bag over the plants. Used Ziploc bags and 2 candy bags.
Started From: Bosser unrooted cut from salvia source.
Start Date: Received 10.10.08

Other Details/Images:
Setup Pictures
CLICK FOR FULL SIZED PICTURES! THEY'RE ALL CLICKABLE!
What i did was i got a old cardboard box. I lined the bottom with glossy paper. Then some clear food wrap on the bottom. After that i wrapped most of the inside of the box up with foil. Then with a table lamp i bought from walmart i attached it the the cardboard box and the head is supported by the box so it doesn't fall into the box.
I started with 2 cuttings but it looked like it was gonna rot so i cut it in to 4 cuttings.

Pictures of the 2 unrooted cuttings in a cup of water with a bag over it that is misted.
This one is just a stem with one leaf

This one is just a plain stem. Hopefully it lives? it was sightly rotting so this is the part i cut off and decided to give it a chance just in case.

Pictures of the 2 in my custom made containers with a bag over it.
This one had leaves on it but it fell all off and i see a small leaf near the bottom growing. It seems to be alive.

This one here is the best one i have so far. I don't know if i should have done it but i heated up a knife and cutted off the parts of the leaves that were black.

This is what the above 2 are stored in, its just 2 container of the same size with one the smaller one at the top filled with miracle gro potting soil. The top container has a couple of pen sized holes for extra water when i water it to go down in, and also so that the pool of water i put in the bottom helps humidify the dirt. which i think it is doing hopefully.

Day 5
I decided to put another small container over it while having a plastic bag over it to raise the humidity. All my plants look the small but my biggest one is turning black more. I think its adjusting to the humidity still am i right?

Day 16

Things That Salvia has Taught and Made Me Done
-Its hard to hide since its in my room
-I had to tell my parents its a project for school. lol. (that'll never end Tongue)
-When people come over they're not allowed in my room most of the time anymore.
-Only 2 people know about it. (what it really is)
-Never water the plant if the soil is moist. In other words almost never. Well in my case
-Its a lot easier to grow than you think. Treat them with care and patience and they'll be happy.
-They're Survivors
-Humidity levels are everything.

If you guys have any advice for me or any suggestions please post.

Not really. Almost all strains look identical. One of the strains 'Luna' is an exception because it has very round leaves. But strains are almost impossible to tell unless you buy them from a trusted source.

There are probably slight differences, but most differences probably have more to do with growing conditions as an unhealthy plant I would imagine has less Salvinorin A than a healthy plant. This is all speculation though. I know Daniel Siebert did research on this, but I can't find it and I don't recall him using numerous strains, just rather a parent plant, clones, plants from seeds, stem of plants, and others.

Here is a link to a chart taken from Siebert's website showing that even within the same strain there is a great range of potency in the leaves.

Just fyi if you want to shrink some of your pictures put the (without the first space) [ img width=380 height=320][ /img ] around your picture links and it will change the size automatically. It saves room. The setup looks great. Do you know what the exact humidity is?

The picture location is in the [Qimg][Q/img] without the capital Q's. If I left them out then it would not show the programming. On the first [Qimg] you make it like this

[Qimg width=380 height=320] and the second you leave as [Q/img] with the picture location in the middle. You can change the numbers to resize the picture to any size you want, just realize this does not change the quality, just the size.

Here is an example, yet again leave the Q out when you make the real thing, otherwise it will not show up

[Qimg width=320 height=380]http://www.salviasource.org/forum/index.php?topic=3220[Q/img]

that picture is taller than it is wide so I had to change the numbers around so it wasn't smashed and fat. I hope this isn't very confusing, which it might be. Let me know if you understand.

You evened them all out pretty good. If you size it right and keep them on the same line you can put multiple pictures next to each other. You can resize by just changing height and width numbers. So how are your plants doing? Any roots in the water that you can see? Have you put an air-stone in with them to help root formation?

my plants seem to all look the same except my biggest one (check day 5 update). I was looking in to putting an airstone but i kinda dont feel like spending anymore money lol. yes i'm cheap like my asian parents. I see no root formations in any of the ones in the water cups. hopefully by this weekend when i plan on taking my next update pictures they look a lot better. All the plants seem to have a strong stiff stem now and didnt sag? like it did when i had it for the first few days. I also heard it was bad to keep touching the plant is this true?

Yes handle the plants as little as possible while they are forming roots.

Also check out JARG's DWC system just by searching for it. He has a cheap one that really does help roots form. Roots normally take about 2 weeks to really form give or take 4-5 days (I have read this about roots and not experienced it). You seem to be doing a lot for your plants so I hope they in turn grow deep roots and grow large for you. Happy Growing.
