Heh, well... You can't be too nice to these girls... You're supposed to stress them.

lol if your super worried just do one hour, but i agree stress them, my plant absolutley loved being outside and getting wind on her, part of the reason why i keep a table fan on her when the lights are on(other than to dissipate heat). the more you stress them now the stronger they will be later, but be sure to be loving, like a father who only wants the best but still holds them when they cry.

alright well i'm starting to go 3 hours without the tent today, but the leaves continue to get worse... on lanky, one leaf is completely half black and another is black around the edges and even black leading back to the stem. most of the other leaves are slightly curled/brown but at least they're better than the others. Anything i could do to get rid of the blackness? i'm misting heavily and the thought came into my mind to cut the 2 worst ones off but i don't wanna do it
edit: i just went to look at a bad leaf and touched it and it fell off

if it fell off then she was done with it. if she still has a few healthy looking leaves then you will be fine, just be good with her.
edit: oh yeah, if you want you could trim off the blackness from the leaves, if you are misting constantly it would be a breeding ground for mould, but it wont be THAT bad if it stays, but in general plant-yness if a plant still has dead parts attached(half a leaf dead) it will waste time(and energy) trying to revive that dead part. so i would recommend trimming the blackness off, right to the border of the green (but not into the green) remember to steralize your pruning equipment(fire boiling ect)im actualy about to do that, also i check if sallys done with leaves like that constantly, just put a little bit of downward presure and if it pops off then i know shes done. with it. from my experience she has a habit of half aborting leaves and then holding onto them untill she was deffinatley sure she was done.

Hmm... If it's getting that bad, maybe you should give her a week or two under the tent... Let her recuperate and try again.
Unfortunately, I've never had that happen to me, so I can't give you much advice.

arcy that's what i'm thinking... i just cut off as much of the black as i could get, and considering i'm gonna get home at like 5-6 at night for the week because of school i'm gonna let them go under the tent this week and hopefully they'll bounce back

well i haven't posted for awhile so i figured i might as well give a little update...
Lanky is still pretty much the same, and even though i cut off a lot of the black it seems to still be growing but not as much however she's got about 3 new sets of leaves coming in (thanks arcy for the idea of pinching the top) so hopefully they'll do good. also with both plants i noticed that the wooden stake things i put in to stake them up actually was growing mold because of my humidity tent so i took them out today and am not gonna stake them up anymore. for both plants i started the 2 hour w/o a humidity tent this week and hopefully by mid week i'll move it up to three hours but here's a pic of lanky:
Bushy is going a lot better... seems to have gotten more leaves and a little bigger and the stem is straigtened out a little bit but it probably wasn't such a good idea to use wood to do so lol... hopefully the mold wont spread anywhere and i'm definitely not misting as much. she's also got some white things almost look like roots coming out of her stem but the hell if i know what they are... here's some pics:
white things
also when i took off the tent the soil was real moist... should i water or just remist when i put the tent back over and not worry about it?

Week 4.5
Lanky:
shes growing a lot of new leaves on the top and shes looking pretty good. the only concern i have is that there are no new visible leaves growing from where a bottom one fell off only a brown spot. there are also a couple of brown spots on the stem. also on the top new leaves coming in i can see some browning at the tips but this may be because i'm taking it out of the humidity tent.
Bushy:
this is the better looking of the plants...shes growing some pretty big top leaves but the ones that are under are kind of crispy and stuff. don't really know why but maybe it has something to do with the lights not reaching down that far? also it's kind of bending and i dunno why i rotated it so that it would hopefully reach for the light. anyway heres some pics:

hey i was just taking the humidity tent off of the bushy one when i noticed a bunch of little flies flying around... i think i got them all but any idea what they are and if they could do some dmg? also the bottom leaves on the bushy one are really curling to the point where the top half is just completely curling down and the whole leaves are just really crispy as opposed to the tops which are kind of smooth. the brown thing is also starting to appear on the new leaves for the skinny one any way to stop this?
any comments would he helpful

soil gnats probably.,soil is rich and not drying out, lots of remedies here........browning on stem edges is from handling, it breaks the fine edge, thats how rot is introduced in water cuttings (I learned the hard way)
....wind wind wind....light light light thats what pulls water from a plant...humidity tents can stifle growth without new air (stomata cannot breathe if atmosphere willnot take away water!!).
...pots will never dry out until plant gets larger, salvia seems to do better when young, in a confined root space.... this is all IMHO of course. best wishes

well i made the acohol/castile mixture that i found in the pest section and this morning i woke up and most of the new leaves have shriveled and most of the big leaves have a sick looking color... i don't know what to do... took the tent off and misted and i'm just gonna leave it off to aerate it.
i took the top of the tent last night to ventilate it, but i guess that wasn't good enough. hopefully my plant'll be okay but all new nodes coming are dead looking. also, most of the brown spots that were on the stem are now mostly whitish. should i cut off all the dead looking leaves or just let them repair? pics:
