Strain: Blosser/ Unknown Cactus/ Unknown Tree (lucky tree)
Lighting: 55w Full Spectrum CFL
Grow Media/Soil Mix: Miracle Grow/Perlite (45-55)
Fertilizer: Miracle gro
Temperature Range: 70's
Humidity: dry room humidity
Started From: Cuttings
Start Date: sometime around the end of September maybe Beginning of October

Other Details/Images:

http://www.salviasource.org/forum/index.php?topic=828 --- These are the three cuttings on the day I got them. I bought them from a vendor on Ebay. They wilted for the first day or two and almost instantly lost close to 10 leaves from shock. Also there was a small, maybe 2-3 inch cutting lying on the cup inside of the container. I put this in water and let it set root, which it did, and named it Lucy. I was reluctant to start the grow log from the beginning when I first got the plants because of the bad luck I had been having. But (knock on wood) it looks like my luck may be changing.

http://www.salviasource.org/forum/index.php?topic=829 --- This is my initial set up with my three cuttings in the cup with perlite, the small cutting Lucy, my unknown lucky tree, unknown cactus, and an almost saved stick from an old cutting that i killed (or so I thought).

http://www.salviasource.org/forum/index.php?topic=830 --- These are the cuttings and Lucy.
http://www.salviasource.org/forum/index.php?topic=831 --- This is the stick that almost survived. It was sitting in water as a stick with nothing on it for two weeks and then sent out a root and grew some leaves. It ended up rotting and is pretty much dead now. oh well... it was an experiment.

http://www.salviasource.org/forum/index.php?topic=833 --- This is the biggest cutting of the three after I potted it. I pulled out the three cuttings and two had no roots and were partially rotted and the biggest one was fine with roots and no rotting. So i kept the other two in water to root.

http://www.salviasource.org/forum/index.php?topic=834 ---Close up of big cutting leaves. Why are the leaves all curled like this. I believe that it's because I'm acclimating them to low humidity. They are still like it but growing none the less.

http://www.salviasource.org/forum/index.php?topic=837 --- My second set up. It has changed since then and will change again shortly.
http://www.salviasource.org/forum/index.php?topic=838 --- Two cuttings in water and Lucy.

http://www.salviasource.org/forum/index.php?topic=840 --- close up of small stem that didn't exist in the beginning.

http://www.salviasource.org/forum/index.php?topic=846 --- Second largest plant from the side planted one.
http://www.salviasource.org/forum/index.php?topic=847 --- Smallest one, which isn't as small as it was.

Well that's it for now. There are more pictures that I didn't post that can be checked out in my pictures. More pictures will be coming soon as the other plant in water will be side planted soon and I will change my set up again. Thanks for looking.

MORE NEW PICTURES

These pictures already need to be updated. I have started acclimating all my plants to low humidity. I have been keeping them completely open and spraying them in increasing intervals. I'm at around 3 hours now between sprays and they are holding up very well. They even look better than when they were in bags.

http://www.salviasource.org/forum/index.php?topic=928 ---Lucy cluster of leaves. This cluster and the one on my biggest plant both showed up at the same time and they were both planted at the same time. I think this means that the roots have really set in and are gaining lots of energy.
http://www.salviasource.org/forum/index.php?topic=929 ---Biggest plant- a little fugly due to acclimating and being at weird in between stage of humidity for a while.

I have put up even more pictures that I took yesterday (1/02/08). these are all adjusting to dry humidity, just whatever is in my bedroom. they are going 12 hours between sprays using my method. i will be repotting the side planted plants tonight hopefully so the set up that i have now will be changed pretty drastically.

They really look great. There's nothing like a tub of Salvia in my opinion.

I just finished repotting the last cutting, also side planted. I changed my setup again so I'll get new pictures up soon.  I want to make sure that the cutting roots well in the soil. oh.. I also had another 2 inch little cutting that I put in the same pot. It's just been lying in water for the past couple of weeks. hopefully that does well too.

also carefull with that cactus: Fiung Shui says that cactus are a bad addition to a livng environment, (the plants nature tends to influence the growers nature) meaning the dry prickley nature of a cactus, hording all its water will rub off on you. This mainly has to do with sleeping rooms (the plants gt into your head when you are most vulnerable) but it mentions anywhere in the house where you are often. It also speaks on banzis in the same arrangement, as they signify stunted growth, preventing the owner/tender from further growing.  My own example being, i had a tree growing in my place, mostly in my room, and i didnt start growing (persnoaly, emotionally, ect) untill it, sadly, died.

i'll see about moving the cactus. so far it hasn't caused any trouble but I guess it would have much different vibes than something like Salvia.

Also, does anyone know why when you look at a close up image of the pictures i put, they are all cut off on the right side. is it that they are just too big??

Yeah they are too big; a lot of people have been posting images that are way too large. I think this is because when you take a picture off a camera it saves the image with full resolution so they are usually very large. I have been meaning to put an auto-resizer script in the image gallery, but I've been lazy. I will do that soon and I will try to manually resize most of the images in the gallery that are too big.

But your plants are looking great, you've got a sweet setup now...keep it up.

nice man,
question about your "side planted ones" were tey already forming roots sideways when you planted them? -- like sitting in watter sideways, or did you root them like normal, (the tip in water) and then just plant the whole thing sideways so that the whole stem would gain roots?

i had them standing upright in water, well maybe more slanted than upright and the main stem had two branches curling upwards off of it and all along the underside of everything, roots were growing like crazy down into the water. aerial roots everywhere too. it seemed like sideplanting it made sense to make use out of all of the aerial roots. i just repotted both of my side planted plants and now have 6 new individual plants. they were all heavily rooted which i was ecstatically happy about. i will post pictures within the next couple of days. something that was really intresting was that the main stems of the plants were completely dried, practically disintegrating under the soil. just something interesting.

Lookin really good. You need to pinch and stake them up though Smiley

i'm hoping that they will straighten up on their own with the added stability from the deeper potting. as far as pinching, you think that my bigger side planted ones are ready for pinching. i was told that they should have 3 pairs of healthy leaves, which they have. i have been debating when to do it. i think i will let another pair grow and then pinch.
