Strain:
See Dags Grow log
Lighting:
Natural
Grow Media/Soil Mix:
Basic commercial soil mix
Fertilizer:
Basic commercial
Temperature Range:
20-25 Celcius
Humidity:
-
Started From:
Clone
Start Date:
06/2008
Other Details/Images:
So my first plant arrived today. It was sent me by Daggster, and it's cloned from his plants (see his grow log from the link above). He's rooted the plant in water for the past couple of weeks. After she arrived today, I kept her in purified water for about an hour (I had to rush downtown to buy a pot for her, didn't notice I'd ran out). I built her a humidity "tent" from a 2 liter bottle, which seems to be the easiest way to do it.
I use the same commercial soil mix and fertilizer that I use for my other herbs, and they're growing pretty good, so I hope it works for Lady S. also. I am keeping the plant close to the window in natural lighting for now. I hope she'll get used to the natural light, I want to use as minimum fluorescent lighting I can (it's just a thing I have
). I guess she'll need a lamp closer to the winter, but let's get through the first days first, right?
So here are the pictures from today (sorry for the bad quality, but I only have a camera in me phone):
Before planting in the soil:
In the pot:
That's that for today, I'll log whatever happens with the plant. Especially in these first days. All suggestions are welcome!
P.S. I've built myself a cigar humidor for my few cigars. In there I have an Oasis-sponge to keep up the humidity. I am thinking of putting one inside the "tent" to keep the humidity up all the time. Anyone ever tried that?

Day 2.
Here she is this evening. Last night she started to look healthier than in the morning when I got it, which was weird IMO, since I thought the shipping stress will make it alot poorer.
I haven't had the chance to mist her so much tonight, and I can clearly see it on the condition of her. She looks good still, especially comparing to yesterday morning. I hope she survives...
The only problem is that a new leaf has gone a bit black, as well as the tips of the couple bigger leaves. But I guess that's just the stress.
Anyway, she's doing quite good it seems. I will update this log tomorrow or on Saturday again.

Day 4
I couldn't arse myself to take a picture, as nothing has really happened. She's definitely alive, and rooting, but nothing visible isn't going on. Only minus has been today. I haven't been at my flat for the whole day, and didn't get the chance to mist it during the day. So the "main leaf" / biggest leaf on it had definitely started to curl a little. But nothing to worry about.
I noticed an interesting thing on my chili's though. Whenever it has been a cloudy day like this, the chili's get depressed and the leaves all start to point down. But yesterday when it was a sunny day, they all looked happy and streched their leafs outward. Interesting effect
(My chili's are about a month old, I planted them from seeds on 31st of May).
Anyway, happy gardening it is. Luckily I am gonna get to pay more attention to my Lady S. tomorrow.

Day 7:
Still nothing.
Really, not for better or for worse. I think that the fact that it has been cloudy since day 3 has pretty much seized everything happening. Same thing with the chili's. Plants get enough light to live, but not enough to grow. Can't wait for August really, since it's usually the best weather during our summer. I actually have to keep the Salvia in a shadier place then.
But yeap, no pictures, since there's nothing really to see apart from the above ones. But as DrYRHead said up there, so far so good, she's still alive.

Day 13
(...well just barely day 13, it's 2 AM
)
I don't have a picture, but I will take one later this week. I can see some new growth starting to happen. All of the leaves are
slightly
bigger, and there are at least four new really small sprouts visible. There's been a little bit of sunshine during the past couple of days, which has done a lot of good to my garden. The weather forecast promises still more clouds and rain, but I am keeping my fingers crossed for the sun to appear at least a little bit.
That's it for now, will post more when something worthy of infoing comes along

Day 22 (I think)
Sitting on the balcony, sipping beer. I took a photo of her, but my laptops Bluetooth refuses to receive the pic, so never mind. I just want you to know, that the sun finally came out and should shine for the weekend atleast. For the past couple of days, she's grown more than she has in the 20 days before that. Her top leaves especially have grown, plus the new sprouts really start to look good. She's a bit over 3" tall, and already has 8 leaves sticking out. A helluva bush she'll be.

Like yours, I also noticed with my plants that they needed a few weeks to acclimate and there wasn't a lot of growth. Then they really started to grow fast after that. We'd love to see an updated pic!

Day : 27
Okay, another bad picture, but here you can definitely see the growth! I am gonna have to come up with a bigger humidity chamber soon, as she'll outgrow herself from the 2 liter bottle!
She now has grown 11 leaves, and I see sprouts for 4 more. She better grow some height too now.
What a bush she'll be, the cutting I got was excellent and here we see the result. She's doing really good right now.

The plant is looking very healthy and strong. If you start taking off the 2 liter a little more each day you can get her to adjust to the ambient humidity and in a few weeks you shouldn't need the 2 liter at all.
