I've yet to name my plant.  She'll have a name eventually, prolly after a favorite character in a book/tv/movie/etc series.  I usually wait awhile to find a plant's temperments before I name it.  Anyways.

Strain: Blosser
Lighting: Shade with strong indirect sunlight
Grow Media/Soil Mix: Currently still in transport soil
Fertilizer: Miracle-Gro feeder (when I pot it)
Temperature Range: 65 - 90 degrees F
Humidity: high
Started From: Purchased plant from salviasorce.org
Start Date: September 7th, 2007

She came to me at about 20 cm (little under 8 inches) tall.  She's a bit wilted from the transport and a few of her lower leaves appear to be damaged.  I made a makeshift humidity tent for her after she wilted further.  I went to a class, came back a few hours later and she's perked up quite a bit.  Taking advice I'll leave her in the tent and the transport pot for a week before I put her in soil (taking her out of the tent for a bit each day so she can breath).  I'm planning on a 1/1 of perlite and organic potting soil.  half and half, unless peeps suggest I try a different ratio.

I don't have a digi cam so I can't take pictures of her at the moment.  I do have a standard 35mm camera though soon as I can find where I put it.  I'll update again in a week, so long as she survives (looks like she will).

Day 2 (09/08/2007):

Three of the lower leaves fell off.  I knew they'd be going sooner or later just by the looks of em.  However, more new leaves are growing in and the stalk itself has straightened out.  Took her out of her humidity tent for a bit today just to give her some fresh air, then put it right back on with a few sprays of water.  This'll be the last update till I either pot her or she dies.

Against better advice, I went ahead and potted my Salvia early.  And, she's doing quite well.  She still needs her humidity tent.  I'm trying to ween her off of that slowly by removing it for about an hour a day...and I'll slowly increase the hours over time.  She has a number of new leaves growing in and I do believe she's a bit taller (haven't measured her since I got her. need to find my ruler...).  Pretty soon I'll have to build a new humidity tent for her.

Glad to hear your plant seems to be doing well. But if she seems to decline again dont worry about getting her out of the tent, keep her in there until she becomes strong. You have all the time in the world to adapt her.

The best way to check if shes growing is to note the growth of the small new sets of leaves that sprout from the nodes. Although she may be stretching a bit overall, it would be quite difficult to notice in small amounts. Sometimes she could be dropping a little or she might be curved, which could throw off your measurement.
