the leaves have to be dried out before extracting, right?

Yes. Absolutely required.

As JD said, water is miscible with Acetone, but then you'd have a good 50-100ml of water left in your extraction, which takes HOURS to evaporate Wink

I would imagine if the air isn't bone-dry you have enough trouble with atmospheric water condensing into the acetone while you evaporate it.  Does that happen, Arcy?

Salvia goatse'd me!  Warn your children!  It's actually a good reason to keep it legal, your friendly neighborhood drug pusher doesn't do age verification.

yes, that can happen. The acetone gets damn cold, almost frosty... That's why I choose to double boil the acetone. It prevents that Wink

Question for Arcygennical:

In the middle of step 7 of the extraction of salvia when you pour the acetone from one jar to the next, are you supposed to keep the small fine particles at the bottom of the jar from jumping on to the next jar or do you want that to be  poured into the next jar?

You're trying to get rid of as many of these small particles as possible. Try your best to keep them out of the second jar Smiley

Alo, awesome guide! thank you thank you thank you.
I'm about to give it a first attempt.
Just a question about step 7
7) Now, after the liquid has been sitting overnight, you must pour it (I know, there's so much pouring) into another glass container... This must be done carefully. You'll notice the liquid is very green, but totally clear. If it's still cloudy, let it sit overnight in the freezer again. You'll notice as you pour it, that there are some solids in the bottom of the jar. These are all the particles that fell out of the mixture overnight.

These particles, they are to be discarded? pour off just the liquid right?

thanks for the info! Peace!

EDIT... Answered already. nice
