Sweet thanks a lot Grin I appreciate it.

Glad you like the new forum, I'm very happy with it as well.

Btw, will SMF send me a notification when a new version is available or is there some mailing list I should sign up for?

Yea, I noticed that, but I dont really visit that page too often. I was hoping there would be some way I could get an email when there was a new version.

I probably could trust you to keep me updated though Wink

I get emailed...

I don't think that's a forum setting itself though, I reckon it's something in cpanel.

So, all 4 of us have a domain (or two) with SMF 1.1.3 functioning ... And here we are swapping notes on how best to use the thing!

I have a biggie problem. If I switch on the Embed Flash (may be a security risk: I don't recommend it) feature - using the preview button doesn't work: I get a MySQL Database error.

As a Matter of Fact I had to do an "Upgrade" to my database! I got a warning that I seemed to be using a Version 1.1.1 database with version 1.1.3!

If you Google for "Hydroponics growing Salvia divinorum forum" this forum is the #2 listed. That's a good sign ...

Yeah its got a pretty decent page rank. If you shorten that to: "salvia divinorum hydroponics forum" its #1 on Google! Its on page 2 if you just type in "grow salvia divinorum" and its comes up as #1 or #2 on Windows Live search  Grin

Whats that strange stuff you posted?  2E2 mark 078??

Boy, I can't sneak much past you huh?

In the last forum I put my roots down in: I started tracking my posting history - and I just discovered it's good to go here too ! (I actually missed marking the first one)

I don't think anyone in that forum ever noticed that once in a great while an alphanumeric code appeared under my posting text (at least no one ever asked about it): but you picked up on it right away.

That code is in Scientific notation and it tells me that it only took me 78 days to post 200 replies.

What do you mean "Pretty Decent" page rank? It's a freaking awesome page rank - or don't you think Google #1 is a good rank?   Shocked   Shocked

Lol, I see...yeah you cant get anything past me  Tongue

OK, we have a good page rank, I'm just surprised at how few hits come in through Google though. According to my stats not too many come in through there, but then again I'm not sure how accurate the counter is.

Btw, I looking for a good place to buy some add space or get a link where lots of people will see it, like Erowid or Lycaeum. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Where would you post the link? I used to have my link up there on the Salvia divinorum page, but a little while ago they removed all the external links from that page, I dont know why...? Perhaps theres a way to put them all back?

I posted that before I found out all the links had been removed. Then I spent 2 hours trying to unsuccessfully modify that post: I couldn't post or modify ANYTHING yesterday evening ...

My links from that page were removed too ...

Oh thats unfortunate, thanks for the attempt  Smiley

Another good way to gain Salvia Source some popularity is to send PM and emails to people on other forums that might be interested in the site. Some of the members who have posted here in the past came over here that way.

Hey Para, not sure if you know about this already, but as well as gaining a bunch of links to this site, its also a good idea to try and use a variety of descriptive anchor text, for example:

Heres a common way people create links...
click here to visit Salvia Source!

That will benefit your search rankings somewhat, but not as much as a link like...

Visit our Salvia Forum and learn lots!

The phrase you link with (in this case "salvia forum") contributes more strongly to most search engines view of what this place is all about Smiley

The key is not to make ALL your links "salvia forum" - thats obviously going to look artificial to the engines.... instead use a variety where possible, such as "salvia forum", "salvia source", "grow salvia" ... etc - or whatever phrases you're wanting to rank for.

Feel free to ask away if you have any questions - I used to do this stuff for a job.

There are also many ways to gain incoming links without exchanging links with other sites, though they can be a little time consuming sometimes.

I'd bet if you were to build more links with good anchor text (even 10 a week) for a couple of months you would see pretty big gains, as its not an insanely competitive industry (such as financial topics etc)

Thats a good suggestion, thats awesome you used to do this as a job. You can definitely be a big help Smiley

Can you recommend any other places to submit my link for free or cheaply? Any other suggestions for strategies you picked up on the job would be greatly appreciated. Also I think I will email some of my affiliates and get them to update my link text.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions!
