Hello, everyone!

I love Salvia Source (I mean c'mon, I'm a moderator), but we need to get more people involved on the site. I feel that we have a ton of potential going here, and we just need to shovel a little bit more coal onto the steam engines.  Therefore, I will be posting in various groups, and sending messages to different websites, looking for people to link to us. We also need your help too, so please help us publicize Salvia Source and expand it's population.

If anyone wants to do a link exchange with Salvia Source and get you banner/link on the homepage, please send an email to: salviasource@gmail.com

Here is a list of ways you can help (updated when new ideas are suggested):
  • Search the net for relevant places to post links (or links to our articles) on forums, blogs, website link directories, groups, etc. Check out our link page for banners and buttons.
  • Email friends who you think might be interested in Salvia Divinorum
  • Apply to be a contributor so you can add cultivation or knowledge articles to the site.
  • Sign up and post in the forum and add your trip reports, images, and grow reports to the site.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate you helping get our name out there. I have been doing my best but I am always squeezed for time. I changed your post a little since it shows up on the homepage. We do have an affiliate system, people can just email me if they want to trade links (I list those sites under partner sites). However, I was thinking of making a system where people can add their link details and it will automatically come up if they agree to link to Salvia Source.

I did email Daniel Siebert trying to get a link, but he refused because my site sold live plants (as his site does), so I am a competitor :-/ Maybe if he'll change his mind from your email...hopefully. I hope the link on Wikipedia stays up this time, I tried adding 2x before, but it was removed within a day or two.

In this topic we should brainstorm other ways to get the name out there, so please post your ideas. Once we have a good list we can edit this news post.

Here are some ideas I have:
  • Search the net for relevant places to post links (or links to our articles) on forums, blogs, website link directories, groups, etc.
  • I will start a Salvia trip art contest where the winner gets a free plant (coming soon!)
  • Put up fliers locally around your hometown where there are people that might be interested in Salvia (if someone wants to help design that I can send you some of my Photoshop files)
  • Email friends or anyone that might be interested in Salvia
  • I could design some T-Shirts at CafePress.com and if people want to buy them they could wear them around
Cool stuff, and again I really appreciate all the help you guys are giving.

Cool. I've been looking for a site that prints cups and T-shirts. I surfed up a few on-line, but I didn't know where to start. That is which one to pick.

What are you planning to use them for?

I have used Cafepress and I liked the service a lot. The shirts are quality and I still have all of mine.

I'm thinking about something custom made from them, but still not sure which pics to use yet.

Yea I'm liking the looks of this site too, I'm already in the making of promoting this site, I'm surprised there aren't that many users...I thought salvia was way more popular (maybe that's a good thing).

Doing a google search, this site is on like the second page for me at the bottom. I'm sure there are ways to get more references to it, I mean really, when I type in salvia forum...this one should at least be in the top ten, most of the ones in between this one and the first search result are just like garden websites or info blogs or some useless shit.

Yeah I know, I've been working on promotion, its exhausting though. However traffic is climbing slowly but surely. I really appreciate your help with promotion, I really need it. In about a week (hopefully by this weekend) I will have the new version of the site up and running with a slightly new look and a much more secure, faster, and nicer forum software, SMF. Once I get that finished I can focus on promotion, however I will need all the help I can get. My page rank is reasonable, its been getting better, but I just need more sites to link in. The 3 links that would make a world of difference to have are:
- http://www.sagewisdom.org: Unfortunately he wont link me because his site sells plants so I am a competitor =/ maybe he will reconsider if enough people email him, so you should try to urge him to do it.

Is there any sites out there that will print your logo onto lighters, ashtrays or roach books for example?

That could be a wicked branded free gift. I'm thinking about doing it myself, but I've not found anywhere that does it.

That a good idea, but it would be against a policy I have vowed to stick to. I dont want to associate my site directly with the ingestion of Salvia. This is to reduce possible liability and also because I dont want to be in anyway a part of the problem of people using irresponsibly.

Instead I had an idea to make a pamphlet, which is on hold right now but should still come out, that encourages rseponsible use and briefly discusses other aspects of Salvia. Then there would be list of links, one being this site.

Well, I have a bit of a far fetched proposal for you. I'm working on a new project (coffeesh0p.org) which aims to bring quality information to the user about alllll the drugs  (eventually). It'll be the same in content as Erowid, but a hell of a lot easier to use. From presenting the "need to know" information above everything else, to social bookmarking, user tagging of drugs, etc. If we put enough effort into it, it should kick off, and one of our ideas is to get webmasters from other ethneo sites to write guest articles on a subject of their choice. In return, that author would get a bit of text about him/her and a link back to the original site. Obviously this wouldn't be worth much, but should this site get off the ground and give erowid a run for their money, a backlink to your site would carry a lot of weight.

I can't promise we're going to do it, I can't promise right now that it's even going to get off it's arse, but if you might be interested, let me know. Smiley

Sure, sounds interesting. If you are going to compete with Erowid you are definitely going to have to offer something new. I'm anxious to see what you will come up with. And surely I will be interested in writing an article on Salvia. Next week I am starting my research on it. I will be investigating the chemical pathways of the plant that are used to derive Salvinorin-A...maybe I could write about that. Anyway, be sure to contact me with more info when you get things rolling.

I'm going to link to your site from my High traffic Salvia Divinorum research page.

The old link on that research page to salviaguide forums doesn't work ... You've got a nice site here and I'll promote it!

Oh, and I just LOVE the features in your new forum: it's REALLY COOL!

Sweet thanks a lot Grin I appreciate it.

Glad you like the new forum, I'm very happy with it as well.

Btw, will SMF send me a notification when a new version is available or is there some mailing list I should sign up for?

Here's how I do it.

Sign up to the smf official forums. And in your profile under "notifications" switch on "Receive forum announcements and important notifications by email." which should automatically be checked for you.

Like 2.0 beta which should soon be available to the public.
