Good question! I'm curious as well.

Was the salvia you saw "Green Monkey brand- Chronic Salvia"?

I bought some 20x in Spearmint and my friend got 60x in strawberry.

I don't think that the flavor really comes out when you smoke it though.

Yeah, thanks arcy-

Anywho, I actually haven't smoked anything but this brand (got it in a headshop-sorry!).

For what its worth though, it doesn't taste bad, I actually enjoy the flavor when I smoke it, but regardless it smells like a burning plant.

One of my friends who has tried purple sticky said it(purple sticky) tasted awful and this stuff tastes really good, so there's some perspective if it helps.

I'm just saying that it doesn't really TASTE like the flavor labeled. When you smell the vial of it, it smells really good though.

i posted i about flavoring salvia in the forums. idk if possible but im experimenting with sperimint extract oil in my salvias water at very small amounts to see if i can adapt it to the salvia long enough to produce seed than see if the seed has sperimint traits when germinated. basicly im trying to do anything to get a true salvia plant that has mint traits. maybe  crossing mint plants with salvia idk lol im totally new to this .

Adding anything to the water would only affect the plant itself. It would not change the original DNA of the plant and therefore it could not pass that on through to its seeds.

With that being said, if you want your salvia to taste different you might as well add it after its been removed from the plant. That way you don't have to worry about it harming your plant in the long run.

Spearmint essential oil might damage the DNA of your plant, causing certain genotypic or phenotypic differences in seedlings (provided it sets seed, and these are germinated). I say might, because I'm not sure of the effects of spearmint oil on Salvia's DNA. I'm guessing it would do absolutely nothing at all, but certain chemicals, even some that are totally inconspicuous, have this effect.

However, just because you're adding mint to a plant, doesn't mean the plant's mutation will have anything to do with mint.

In short, if you want to cross Salvia and any mint, you'd need to look into grafting or crossbreeding... Something that doesn't seem possible given the traits of both the Salvia and Mentha families.
