Here you can see 350g of the intial 500g I'm extracting. I plan on retrieving about 4g of crude Salvinorin A from this mixture, containing about 2g of pure salvinorin A.

Yes, I'm being cocky, but my extracts are of a higher quality than the stuff I originally bought from BBB... Mine never come out gunky or resinous due to the purification processes I posted.

Do you sell your extracts? Or is that all for personal consumption?

Pictures and words can only explain so much. You should do a comprehensive video of how to make extractions properly. Why? you might ask.
To which I have no reason, other than some altruistic ones that readily leak water...

Uhm, they're mainly for personal consumption... But I always sell enough of it to cover my costs. That way, I'm really not out any money. If I make about 1.5oz of 20x Salvia, I can sell 6-10g of it @ 20$ and make back what it cost me to extract the other 30g or so .

I might make a video eventually, but it's actually a lot of work to do this properly... And I like to keep some of my secrets guarded

A video is a sweet idea. I was thinking of making some video guides for the Cultivation section and hosting them on YouTube. You should definitely try that out.

Btw, where do you sell your extracts, eBay?

Locally mainly, and I generate a lot of clientele from word of mouth, and from the various forums I post on... I don't really like eBay... Too many scammers and paypal can be a bitch

Just a bit of an update, I'm on my 2nd last Naphtha wash (#4) and the naphtha is coming out almost totally translucent green now, which means most of the heavy waxes have been washed away.

After the last wash, I dried the precipitate, and weighed it at about 2.8g. This means I've probably got about 0.6g of waxes left that will only come out with isopropanol.

Here you can see the final extract being evaporated. Metal dishes are a GODSEND for this!



Next you can see the precipitate collected in the bottom of the bowl... I've weighed the total precipitate at 2.2g, which is fairly good, considering it's about 70% salvinorin by this point... I'm missing about 0.6g as estimated from the original amount of leaf, which I suspect is trapped in the 9oz of Naphtha I used to wash this out with. I'm going to let the naptha sit for about 3 days, and see how much salvinorin has collected in the bottom.



Here is 1g of powdered salvia. The granule sizes are about the same as icing sugar . I split my total amount into 2 vials, since I didn't think it would all fit in one, and allow me to wash with alcohol.



You can see my keys for reference (tiny little vial!).

So, now as we sit, the salvinorin is being soaked in 5ml of 99% rubbing alcohol. I will let it sit for 72 hours, before I carefully dropper some of the liquid off, to try and get even closer to pure salvinorin A.

Alcohol will dissolve some amount of salvinorin won't it?  Also, is it possible to actually earn money from this, or is it more of a hobby?  Right now I only have a part-time job, and my monthly fixed expenses are actually almost exactly what I make.  I've been fortunate that there are people giving me food every day. (I haven't been begging or anything, it's just that when I go to my grandma and grandpa I change light bulbs and move telephones around and stuff like that for them, and they always have some pizza or something they kept in the freezer for me.  I don't even think they know I don't have food, and I'm not going to tell them.)

99% Isopropanol alcohol will dissolve 0.73mg of Salvinorin A per ml. I'm only going to be using about 8ml of alcohol for the entire set of washes, so I'm pretty sure I won't lose too much.

And, anyways, I'm just purifying it for fun... It's all going onto the same 16g of leaves, so I'll just mix the saturated alcohol into the vector acetone when I make my final preparation.
