Will do. I am am keeping a close eye on it. The only down side is that they only schedule hearings up to 2 weeks in advance from what I can tell. I believe there was already a public hearing months ago when it was first introduced in the house. I never saw a date, but in the report from the health committee of the house it states at the bottom the waterloo police dept and some other people that were in support of the bill. It all happened so quick back in Feb and Mar and it was before I got involved so I missed it. So I am hoping that there will also be a public hearing in the Senate. Keep your fingers crossed and I'll email the Michigan list if I see one coming up.

I live in Michigan and have already printed a few copies.  My brother, my wife, and I are all sending them to most reps in West Michigan, especially in the Grand Rapids area.
Welcome to the forum Burkhart.

And Thank you for mailing those ...

I live in southeast Michigan and I'm definitely opposing this bill. My friends and I have only known about salvia for about a week now (yeah we're n00bs) but its an amazing substance that should remain legal. After doing some research on salvia, most websites would consider it to be a "spiritual awakening" which could be argued as being protected by religion...right? If thats the case, could we use it as an arguement to keep salvia legal? As I've mentioned before, I'm new at this but I would like to do the best I can to support keeping salvia legal in Michigan. Advise please?

Hi Genny and welcome to the forums. Salvia being used for spiritual use is certainly one of the arguments, but there are many more too. Have a look at the state by state legal watchdog area here. I am constantly updating it and there are example letters you can send in that address all the reasons that we could think of so far of why Salvia isn't suitable for scheduling. There are also links to the direct bill and links to the Michigan government website area to keep an eye on the bill. It also has links to look up your local legislators so you can see who you need to send a letter to. Here is the direct link...

If you want to be added to the email list I send out occasionally just send me a PM on here with your email address or send it to me at MichSalvia[at]gmail.com. I am keeping an eye on any upcoming public hearings and the more people we can get to attend the more of a chance that we can get this bill turned down. There are only a few people that intend on going so far that I know of so we need all the help we can get. Are you registered to vote? If not, go do it today so you can voice your opinion!
