Really? Maybe I am naive to the way the world really works then? I just can't see there being a problem fighting to keep something legal when there is so much potential good with it. I can see if I were to present myself as a wacko hippie ranting at public hearings and just wanting to get high off of a new herb that any company I work for would not want to be associated with me. But I just can't see a company having a problem with a well educated and groomed guy in a suit talking logically at a public hearing being part of the legislative process. i don't mean to get completely off topic, but the legislators need the public to speak at public hearings on bills. Most of the time they have so many bills to consider and vote on that they don't have the time to do the research and read up about it. They just vote with what the majority is voting.

Salvia is on the brink of being well known and I believe if we go through the next few years educating our legislators and helping them pass logical laws, that we will learn Salvia is an herb to be respected and not a dangerous drug.

Nevertheless, I'm not going to stop defending this plant. But if I suddenly go missing you will know the "man" got to me.

I defended salvia in public. I was on record in a newspaper and NPR piece as opposing a ban in Maine. I signed my name in the register at the podium at the public hearing as being opposed to the legislation. The District Attorney for the State was in the same room, so was the head of the Maine DEA, along with the head of the Maine Office of Substance Abuse. I wrote my Representative, who is well connected in my not very large town and copied him on all correspondence. I also wrote all members of the Judiciary Committee, with proper form, which meant listing my physical address and multiple ways to get in touch with me at the head of the letters.

I'm still around, no jack-booted thugs kicked in the door, no undue attention paid to me when I got popped for speeding/blowing a stop sign some time after the hearings went down. In fact, I got let off with a warning that time, instead of a ticket.

Maybe in some more uptight state it could be an issue, and I've learned from others some good reasons to stay way off the radar, but in my case, any fears of increased law enforcement scrutiny were totally unfounded.

You know what would be good for this site?  Getting an interview with the man himself.  I have personally talked to him and I think you  should get an interview with him.  Here is his profile on another forum, he was looking for help in his case.

Back to the topic a little, you stated that they went into his home searching for his son. Unless I miss my guess the warrant that the police would have had would have been for a person. Not a total search of the premises. How then could he be held accountable if he was unlawfully searched? His goods would be forfeit but he would be clean. Does this sound like I have just not understood what happened in North Carolina or something? I had a friend in conservative Utah who had his backback unlawfully searched and was found to have 2oz of MJ on him, but because of the lack of the warrant he got off scotch free. I believe he actually got the officer in trouble, for harassment in addition to this. I haven't looked into the warrant laws so I may be wrong. Someone let me know if I am.

An interview sounds good, I might ask him for one.

Any burning questions you'd ask?

I'm so glad dangerous criminals like this man are no longer able to quietly enjoy themselves and ponder existence while smoking sally.

... All kidding aside, here's a big fuck you to those who responsible for the criminalization of sally in ND instead of some sort of civil regulation.
