I've posted this in the "Salvia News Article Archive" in the knowledge section, but I think this article may warrant a posting here as well. 'Magic mint' hallucinogen under fire in USBy Chris Hawley from USA TodayJune 21, 2009 This is a frightening little article. If accurate, it reveals that the DEA is currently studying whether or not to ban Salvia nationwide. Unfortunately, it does not note much in the ways of scientific research currently being conducted on salvia nor does it describe the possible medicinal benefits. Even more unfortunate are the choice of quotations from various sources. One of the larger quotes comes from Thom Collier, a former state representative who wrote the law that banned salvia in Ohio. His statement is as follows: "There was no legitimate purpose for that herb, and the things it was being used for were potentially harmful... We thought it would be better to deter this sooner than later." It's aggravating that someone would make such an uneducated statement like this, particularly to such a mainstream media source as USA Today

Thats just messed up how the people out there aren't conscious of how there is actual benefits for herbs & cacti and they just assume that they are 'party drugs' When they are really used as a reflective tool to teach lessons and mentally heal to become a better person. I bet if an article was wrote in usa today having both sides of the dude Chris Hawley and scientific resarch/actual data that People would appreciate the herb rather than hate on it. If they really think this is a party drug then chris hawley should go to a party and smoke some 20x and see how it goes... he would see the reality.

Very interesting article!
Salvia has been a DEA “drug of concern” for years. I don’t think this article indicates that there has been any official change to its status.

There isn't an official change to its status- but it's giving a bad rep on a divine herb!

Keep growing guys! The only way to save Salvia divinorum is to have a plant in every American's back yard!

That is correct! Nothing new, nothing to be specifically concerned about.

Ah, okay. Just for clarity's sake, I'm going to change my post in the Article archive... This article was essentially re-released in the Arizona Republic, albeit a slightly different form noting specifics on the condition of the bill in Arizona State bans exotic dug: Mexico's magic mint

I'm spreading them around as fast as I can!
Excellent! You get a genius point for that! I'm responsible for hundreds of Salvia plants distributed (in past years). Good, good, keep it up! Everybody follow his example and start spreading this wonderful botanical!

Yeah, I'm gonna make clones for my friends first so that way we can all grow together and have ourselves a decently sized growing operation. We'll produce more and more salvia as time goes on. lol I have it all planned out.

Produce as many live Salvia divinorum plants as possible and ship them all over the world to growers committed to cultivating and propagating them!
