Well, I'm sure most of you are quite aware that there are many videos of people doing salvia on video sites like youtube. I didn't find anything wrong with this at first, I'm only now starting to get pissed because I'm seeing news articles refer to it, and news channels showing video feeds of some random kids bouncing around on salvia.
Can anything be done about this? There can't be much hope because salvia is legal (meaning youtube staff won't bother deleting them), it just sucks that it's fuel for the media.

Maybe if we all send e-mail to you tube explaining that SD is illegal in some states they would pull the videos. I can’t see anything good coming out of those videos. Most of them are taking a sacred experience and turning it into a joke. Maybe we could even turn it into a religious issue. We should consider starting a salvia church so that if it does become illegal in our states we would be able to still have it and us it. If we were a church we would have more power when it came to political issues. It’s not really hard to start a church from what I’ve read. I would be willing to donate some of the money it would take for registration of the church.

Yeah actually I think that might be a good idea emailing youtube. Since it is illegal in certain states, we could scare em and say they are advocating illegal activity.
I mean for Christ's sake, there's a 17 minute mescaline extraction in google video...The cactus I guess was legal.
I don't know much about starting a church, but that's be pretty awesome if it could be established. Would we need like a special set of beliefs or something saying that salvia divinorum is our aid?

There are Native American Church (NAC) members around where I live. The state of New Mexico does not give them any problems, but the state of Arizona, next door, does give them a hard time. However, Arizona is a notoriously conservative state, or at least the politicians that tend to be in power there have been the last several years.
Whatever the case, on another note; back in the 70s their was this Church of the Tree of Life in San Fransisco that had Salvia divinorum as its main sacrament. However, I have not been able to find any information about whether or not that church still exists. If anyone here has any inside info about such, do please, let us know. Perhaps, that church could be expanded upon, or it could be resurrected, if that church is now dead/defunct.

I didnt realize that people could just start a church potentially making Salvia legal for spiritual reasons even if the state outlawed it. A while ago this guy posted a topic about his religion based on Salvia Divinorum (in Wisconsin):

I live in AZ and I know a native who lives on a res where they can use peyote freely. However, I live in Tucson and compared to the rest of the state we are very liberal.

The church I linked above is in AZ. I meant what I said about pitching in for some of the costs. It doesn’t take much but I don’t have the time to learn all of the details.

I edited the GUEST Porno posting in the LAW Forum in a letter from Daniel Siebert topic.
I'm leaving the above GUEST posting intact so you can see that random guests can spam phpBB now without registering.

It has to be some sort of new SPAM-bot  tactic. :x I don't think that guests should even be able to post here at all. BTW, I think that we should at least deactivate the link there. I don't want to give these jerks any business from here. I'll leave the comment that is there, though.

Back to the original topic. Damn YouTube.
Those kids taking SD on YouTube are mentioned again in this ABC program.
---------------------------------------------------------
ABC News Nightline ran a scare piece on Salvia Tuesday.
Here's one of the two video clips on their site

I'm very surprised at this one. At first I was thinkin' this is terrible, just what we need another suicide scare. However, later Daniel Siebert was interviewed and introduced the benefits. It was so funny after Siebert talked about using it for introspection when the narrator was saying "Now you may think thats a little far out, a little
trippy
....but" Blah blah about how it killed Brett. The way he says
trippy
cracked me up.
But that doctor who came on gave Salvia a very good and positive representation. I was amazed at some of what he was saying. He suggested that it might potentially be a drug for the treatment or prevention of HIV based on the fact that k-opioid antagonists have been shown to suppress expression of HIV. I found a paper on it, heres the abstract:
Quote from: {kappa}-Opioid Receptor Ligands Inhibit Cocaine-induced HIV-1 Expression in Microglial Cells
Cocaine abuse has been implicated as a cofactor in HIV-1-associated dementia (HAD). In this study, we tested the hypothesis that exposure of microglial cells, the resident macrophages of the brain, to cocaine would potentiate HIV-1 expression. Because {kappa}-opioid receptor (KOR) agonists have been shown to suppress neurochemical and neurobehavioral responses to cocaine and to inhibit HIV-1 expression in microglial cell cultures, we also postulated that KOR ligands would inhibit cocaine-induced potentiation of HIV-1 expression. Human microglial cells were infected with HIV-1 SF162, an R5 isolate, and viral expression was quantified by measurement of p24 antigen in culture supernatants. Treatment of microglia with the KOR agonists trans-(+/-)-3,4-dichlor-N-methyl-N-(2[1-pyrrolidnyl])benzeneacetamide methanesulfonate and 8-carboxamidocyclazocine inhibited viral expression (maximal suppression of 42% and 48%, respectively). Consistent with the hypotheses, treatment of microglia with cocaine promoted HIV-1 expression (maximal enhancement of 54%), and pretreatment of microglia with these KOR agonists as well as with the KOR selective antagonist nor-binaltorphimine abrogated cocaine-induced potentiation of viral expression. Results of flow cytometry studies suggested that the mechanism whereby KOR ligands inhibit cocaine's stimulatory effect on viral expression involves the suppression of cocaine-induced activation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase1/2 thereby blunting cocaine-enhanced upregulation of the HIV-1 entry chemokine coreceptor CCR5. The findings of this study suggest that in addition to its neurotoxic effects, cocaine could foster development of HAD by potentiating viral expression in the brain and that this phenomenon is inhibited by KOR ligands.
I recommend watching the whole thing, I'm gunna add it to the news section.

It was a semi-balanced program. More balanced than most, anyway.
Also, I notices how that Brett kids dad admits that it was Carbon Monoxide that killed his son. It is Brett's mom that keeps trying to say that SD killed her son, but it still seems to me that the kid must have had issues with depression long before he met Sally. No mention of him going for counseling is ever made though. Like others have said before, she is trying to shift the blame. In the end, however, it is still Brett's own fault.

BTW, sorry about the link no longer working. They must have taken it down.
Here is another link to try.

Let us see if that works.

It worked for me, you just have to wait a bit for it to load. That 2nd link you gave doesn't work though.
Oh yeah one strange thing I noticed was the Dad's tone in talking about his son's death. He seemed almost void of regret and emotion, I dunno the way he talked about it seemed kinda screwed up to me.
Also it was unfortunate they had to end it with Brett's story =/
